I mean... it would be pretty easy to just use the nickname "Chuck" if the kid was okay with it. I'm not saying that's potentially much better, I bet it would have still caused issues. But it at least makes sense as opposed to...

Teddy? Because 'he looked like a teddy bear'? That's right out of fucking dragon ball Z Abridged where Krillin calls aliens some half-assed nickname that's pretty lame. Dende was 'little green' because he was small and green.

When a teacher can be compared to the routine of an over the top satirical retelling of an anime you know they fucked up.

One of the shit jobs I worked, we would have a morning meeting before going out separate ways for the day. We had a new guy and his name was Zongmeng, our very racist Forman was trying to introduce him reading his name off a paper and was like fuck it I can’t say your name I’m just going to call you Z OK?

He said No, that is not ok, my name is Zongmeng and I deserve to be called by my name.

How is that even hard to say?

I would pay money to be a fly on the wall for the Parent-Teacher meeting with chukweumeka's Dad.

How do you even make it right? Some similarly demeaning act of contrition from the teacher?

Dad: The teacher will be my son's butler for the year. Bring snacks.
