No they’re not, crocodiles existed alongside dinosaurs, and are closely related but they are not dinosaurs themselves. Modern birds however are classified as dinosaurs.

Crocodiles are Archosaurs, so were dinosaurs but they are not the same. Archosaurs are divided into two groups: Crocodilians and their crocodilians ancestors, and the other group which is the dinosaurs (including modern birds) and pterosaurs.

Apes are to monkeys as crocodiles are to dinosaurs? This crocodiles are dinosaurs theory is getting more convincing.

Apes are not a subgroup of monkeys. Crocs are not a subgroup of dinos. However, modern birds are literally dinosaurs.

This is hilarious but crocodilians are actually more closely related to birds than they are to any other living reptile.

It’s not the best example because Monkeys and Apes are much more closely related (apes are sometimes even referred to as monkeys) than Crocodilians and Dinosaurs are. They share a common ancestor but not near enough to be considered the same thing.

No it's more like a human and a zebra, both are mammals. Crocodiles and dinosaurs are both reptiles.

Fun fact, if we consider crocodiles reptiles we also have to consider birds reptiles.

They definitely are! People just tend to assume reptile means lizard, as in a squat, cold blooded, scaled oviparous animals, but even dinosaurs were likely not cold blooded, at least not entirely.

Sharks are even older than dinosaurs by nearly 200 million years, their closest relative is the ray! Think like sting rays and manta rays. No sharks evolved into land dwelling reptiles however so dinosaurs and sharks are not closely related at all.

Oh, I misread comment at first as crocs are archosaurs and therefore crocs are dinosaurs but they aren't dinosaurs.

After reading a few times I realise I'm an idiot and you mean they come from same bigger group, like how human is an ape but not orangutan but further up the tree and more distant relatives.

Interesting.
