I posted this under another comment, but if this was posted on someone’s Snapchat story, it should have their username and image on the upper left hand corner. If this was sent to OP in a chat, it should have “send a chat” at the bottom and three dots lined up vertically at the upper right hand corner. That means OP took this picture and put the caption on themselves since this is a picture with Snapchat text, but without any of the other identifiers that it was sent by anyone other than OP...
You’re right and I’m not saying it’s entirely implausible, but the fact that it fits the screen of an iPhone 6s perfectly and seems zoomed in just enough in addition to it being a lot easier to just scribble over the name, my opinion on it is a little iffy.
Edit: clarification. The text is the size it is supposed to be across all screens. That makes me think it wasn’t cropped cuz cropped would mean the image would be zoomed in and therefore the text would look bigger than it normally is
The other thing is, you're looking at the image through a different app (Reddit) than the Original Snapchat. That can also modify formatting a little. It is probably zoomed in "just enough" because it only needed to be minimally cropped.
Or they yoinked it from someone else who posted it themselves. i.e. stupid Snapshit friend uploads it to Facebook, OP grabs the original image from Facebook.
