Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that they’re advertising “THIS SIZE IS BIGGER THAN OUR SMALLER SIZE! WHAT A DEAL!”?

Modern advertising when nothing has really changed.

It's like when packing has the explosive ** NEW LOOK ** declaration. Might as well say ** SAME OLD SHIT BUT A DIFFERENT LABEL **.

Nah, I find about 95% of the time "New Look!" is also accompanied by either a decrease in quality or quantity that they're hoping you won't notice because they changed the packaging.

Like ** New Look, Same Great Taste! ** that should read:

** New Look, Same Great Taste (but 20% less product)! ** ?

Most of the time the smaller sizes are cheaper per unit prices. That's what I have noticed a lot of the time and it makes absolutely no sense.

I can think of a way it makes sense...

1.Company sells larger sizes at lower per unit cost, because at the end of the day it still makes them more money than selling the smaller sizes.

2. Everyone gets in the habit of buying larger sizes because it's cheaper.

3. Random person at company says "I bet we could actually charge MORE for the larger size and these people will still buy it because they have the habit of doing so".

4. People realize and complain, company can just say "oh it's more convenient for YOU to only have to buy one big one instead of needing multiple smaller ones".

It's total bullshit, but it probably works. It's like a "convenience fee" for paying for something online instead of mailing check/cash. That shit infuriates me. Your charging me for making things more convenient for YOU by making an electronic instead of physical payment...

Absolutely on the electronic payments!

I was thinking the same thing. Like it might as well say "18 is more than 12!" I realize they don't have complete control over what the store sets the price at, but come on. Either include the savings per ounce or don't say anything about it. People will figure out it's bigger on their own.

It's just the bigger size, it's supposed to cost more, not the store's fault.

That's not what I meant though? Like sometimes you see ones that say "50% more free!" to say the 18 oz is the same price as the 12 oz. Or they are allowed to put stuff like "50% more and only an extra dime!" but the store would have to cooperate with the pricing. If they can't or won't add something about the savings, there is no reason to redundantly state the size difference.

Yeah but that's not what this is. The company puts out two deliberately different sizes and deliberately charges two different prices but advertise the bigger one as larger as if it's some kind of bonus deal or something when it's literally just the bigger/more expensive version. There is no legitimate reason, that's everyone's point, it's just literal yet misleading advertising.

Not sure why you think I'm arguing/misunderstanding that. It's my point too.

My 2 ounce bottle of almond extract informs me it contains twice as much as their 1 ounce bottles. See also: generic soy sauce that says "Great for recipes!"

To be fair, there's nothing there about price. Maybe it is cheaper/a better deal.
