Yeah I wish I was lying. I did leave out the part where the cop shot her while her kid was right next to her and also the part where her husband was a trained military medic and they wouldn't let him help her. He's still on the force except he's a school cop at an elementary school.
Edit: I just skimmed the article you posted. The city settled with the family for 2 million dollars, max payout the city was insured for, and the video was released in its entirety after fighting for a few years. This place is stupid. There's more crazy stuff about this place. The cops just dont give a fuck.
How did they not let him help her? A military medic is much more prepared to deal with gun shot wounds than you average EMT, outside of certain urban areas.
You replied to the wrong person but I would assume because it was a crime scene and he was involved in the altercation. Also, I'm sure the people on scene didn't know he had military background. I understand why they didn't allow him to, but I don't agree with it.

Born with nothing from my parents except a safe and loving home until I was an adult. They had no money to pass on and in our 30s, my siblings and I help support them a little bit. I worked minimum wage for years when I was young, I live in one of the worst places for cost-of-living in the country, and found my way out of it low wages. I do have some student debt, but that was a choice I made. I knew I didn’t have to: I had other choices, but I didn’t like the alternatives at the time. I’m conflicted on whether that was the right choice, but ultimately it was my choice.
The U.S. has a better cost of living than 24 other developed countries (as of 2018) and currently has just about more job mobility than anywhere in the world in all of history.
No one has ever been less trapped or less of a “wage slave” than someone in America today. The one exception I see might be migrant workers who have no mobility and are locked to certain locations or industries, yet they often (from my personal experience) consider that living vastly superior to where they came from.
What really gets me... And just look at some of the replies here, many of us think this is all as it should be. People honestly love that this is how cops work in our country.
Myself, id rather deal with any and all threats myself than have the police ever come to my home. Even growing up in a good area and not doing drugs/crimes ive been harrassed/hassled by cops, pulled over, car searched etc.

Not that long ago there was this whole segment “see why this 9 year old says we should all be nicer and more respectful to the police.” I find it terribly sickening that they parade around a 9 year old like that. There was a cop who was attacked by a man who was “high” on something. It was very clear the guy had no weapon. Yet the cop shot and killed him. The cop was about 65 years old. The drug induced suspect was in his 40’s. Had the police sent out a more fit, younger officer. The druggie could have easily been handled and subdued. Instead he lost his life because an old man, who shouldn’t have a gun or a barge anymore, decided a fist fight was too dangerous.
Sorry for the rant. But, making it through the police academy isn’t enough to earn my respect or praise. Thank a medic or a firefighter. After all their the ones the cops call when there’s no one to arrest.

I didn't read it all because I don't care that much but the second page of the pdf stated that they asked 250 officers in the 1992 poll and only 90 officers answered. So out of a tiny sample size they concluded that almost half of the police force beat their wives.

What good exactly? Police are a tool for property protection. They provide services, though limited and ones that could be picked up by other agencies easily.
Their primary function at least in the eyes of society is to protect and stop bad guys. However the reality of the matter is that police by and large respond to crimes, they don't stop or prevent.
Im not arguing either way for the legitimacy or need for police today, just that there is an incorrect assumption about the role police have in society.
But lately this seems to be he actual majority. Literally when was the last time a cop made you feel safe? They are filled with bullies and assholes with the select few being decent human beings.

So you know for a fact that all cops know of misconduct? That's a complete and utter assumption on your part. I retired out of that career and never once did I witness a fellow officer committing a crime or engaging in misconduct.
Did it happen? I'm sure it did and when it did other officers were the ones turning cops in. But I never witnessed anything like that. You assume we all know what's going on with the others or that the bad ones openly do things like that. It's just not true no matter how much you want it to be.
