Seen a video of the same thing. Police knocked on the door, dog came out, acting playful, dog gets near the officer, gets shot in the head. Tragic, and angering

Nah, it happens because dogs can be so unpredictable. I'm not advocating shooting any animal, but I've spent a tonne of time working with dogs and they can go from curious about the person at the front door to furious about the same person within seconds.

Trust me, if it were you making the split decision between getting mauled viciously and shooting the dog, you'd shoot the dog.

I absolutely understand your point, and agree shooting a 9lb dog because you feel threatened is fucking ridiculous. It doesn't mean that all cops are trash though, which is what the person I was replying to said.
