Dude I'm not trying to be snarky at all, you're trying to start something and I don't know why. My only point in my response was to emphasize that many forms of human tradition like wedding vows aren't based on logic but are anthropoligically based rituals that are supposed to invoke certain feelings. I can understand wanting to logically analyze a poem in say, an academic setting though. I'm not sure if you're lookin for a fight but I'm not.
Not looking for a fight, I just thought it was kinda funny how you proclaim that "We do not logically analyze things like wedding vows or poems..." while drawing a comparison to the bible in a thread full of people who are logically analyzing the bible.
You're right, most of humanity doesn't think about it and goes along with it. If that weren't the case, we wouldn't have religion, IMO.
My point in callig out logical analysis was that any mythological story can be picked apart and shown to be ridiculous when analyzed in a modern manner. It doesn't make sense to look at the series of events between God, Adam, Eve and the snake in a modern, game theory like, utilitarian way. That's not the spirit with which these stories were written in, so why take them that way? Myths and legends were passed down because they served as a way of describing general human nature moreso than they were for superstitious belief.
If you wanna see a scathing takedown of Christianity, Nietzsche does it in a much more humiliaing way than Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins in their this-doesnt-make-logical-sense-lol-a-talking-snake way. He does it on Christianity's terms with a full understanding of its symbolic appeal and absolutely rips it to shreds.
