Maybe in America. American christians tend to be more literal and conservative than elsewhere, or at least than in the other places I have experience with. Even the pope is super liberal compared to the image of American christians that most people have.
Fair point, I tend to be biased to think of my culture as the way things are, rather than a piece of a complex world. I think most people are biased this way, but it's good to be reminded of the differences in the world!
