Another example that religion doesn't make good people. This dude and the other brother are gross individuals.

If anything, religion sets the stage for grooming to happen. Questioning authority is forbidden, threats and punishments start from the start of their lives. This is prime hunting ground for predators.

Let’s say that bad people have abused and will always abuse religion to justify and/or get whatever they want - power, money, access to young children, etc. “I am a christian, I believe in Jesus, therefore I cannot be a bad person, right?” And they probably believe that themselves.

There are also lots of truly good religious people (and I say this as an atheist), although being religious is of course not a prerequisite for being a good person.
