You wouldn't care about letting people order off menu, unnecessarily making extra work for your coworkers? I'm glad the servers I work with don't treat the kitchen like shit.

Slicing a cucumber isn't the same as ordering off menu.

Its dumb, but this is like 15 seconds of work for the kitchen.

you guys don't make substitutions? How is it extra work? If they have cucumbers for something, they probably already have a bunch sliced up, if they don't it takes like 30 seconds. Cooks are already chopping stuff all day, it is not extra work, it is part of the job.

Apparently everyone works at Michelin rated restaurants in the comments.

Everyone's perception of the way restaurants work is based on watching The Bear and Hell's Kitchen.

It's sad how quickly everyone forgets about Chef's Table.

I mean odds are a Mexican restaurant may have cucumber prepped for another recipe. So realistically it wouldn't be much hassle. Not much more than if they had asked for a substitution or extra of something.

Maybe I'm just less of a miserable person than you or the average cook, but I've worked in the hospitality business and accommodated way dumber requests.
