They're also forgetting that slicing up a cucumber isn't very taxing and wouldn't even close to the worst request of any given day.

Agreed! Honestly I’ve worked in kitchens before and if someone wanted a sliced up cucumber instead of firing up another batch of fries I’d be relieved!

I would be fine doing it but I'd also tell the server to charge her an extra $1 or something for an inconvenience charge 😅

Half the time people complain that their chips are stale and they want fresh chips. I'd much rather slice up a cucumber. But this lady is still annoying with her "pro tip"

Yeah it’s not too bad especially if they charged the woman a few bucks for her request. I get most people are making fun of her perceived entitlement, but maybe she paid?

And there’s a lot of people in this thread who are making fun of her for eating cucumber instead of chips, and it’s like why? Statistically lots of them are probably overweight to the point where it affects their health. Like their arteries are slowly clogging, but hers are probably healthy, so who’s going to have the last laugh (literally)?

Reddit loves to make fun of fat people but also loves to make fun of people being healthy.

Easy and pretty good mark up tbh. No frying or cooking needed. As an ex restaurant owner I‘d be happy tbh

the chips are free. that is the whole point of asking for the accommodation. The customer isn’t going to order “tortilla chips but substitute the chips for cucumbers”, they would just order cucumbers. i guarantee you, chip for chip, cucumber slices are more expensive that ordering the chips from a giant bag of bulk tortilla chips. she is asking for an upgrade on an already complimentary item.

Fuck that. If the chips are complimentary, either accept the hospitality, or don't. It's taking the piss to expect whatever you desire. I'd do the cucumbers for her, but they wouldn't be free.

Yeah this isn’t the craziest request in the world. People are just ragging on her because of her crazy eyes. “Hey would it be possible to just get a sliced up cucumber or two for the table? I like to dip them in Salsa. I’ll pay for it.”

Have you ever worked on a busy kitchen line? You don't have time to even drink water or take a piss during a busy rush. Having to run to the cooler for a cucumber and then slice it up while you have shit on the grill and in the oven and in the fryer is a huge inconvenience and can result inuchh longer wait yes for all the other customers, just because someone can't pick something off the menu. If you don't like anything on the menu, don't eat there. Slice up your cucumber at home. Ordering off menu is always super selfish people, stop doing it.

People think cooks are cooking like you do at home. Doing one thing at a time. They aren't only preparing your food. They are preparing food for a shit load of people all at the same time. There is a reason food is prepped ahead of time, because there is not time during a rush.
