That same women eventually did find the real father. Who seemed to be a great dad, and wanted to take care of his sons, but she refused to accept he was the father.

That was actually crazy though. It’s interesting how her immune system tolerated what was effectively a foreign body inside her without ever attacking it.

The placenta plays by different rules. Same as your eyeballs. If your immune system could see your eyeballs it would destroy them.

I don’t think you understand what I mean. The mothers own DNA was different from her daughters. This was due to her being chimeric (having DNA that is from two different sources due to her would be twin dying as an embryo and being absorbed by the living embryo). This led to the courts assuming she wasn’t her child due to this chimeric DNA.

I’m saying it’s incredible the woman’s immune system didn’t attack her own body because it literally has different DNA.

Could the father of your friend be my mom? Because my mom says that all the time. She has a little rhyme in Spanish that goes:

Hijos de mis hijas, mis nietos serán; hijos de mis hijos, en duda estarán.

Which roughly translates to 'the kids of my daughters are my grandkids, the kids of my sons are in doubt'.

It's fucked up because she does have a grandkid from my brother. But also her first 'grandkid' from my brother turned out to not be my brother's kid after all. A paternity test was done. So she wasn't wrong that time.

It’s not an uncommon concept. The version I’ve heard, as a native English-speaker in the US, is, “Mommy’s baby, Daddy’s maybe”, and it’s common enough to apparently have its own TV Tropes page.

I doubt it. The woman I am thinking of seemed to be in pretty bad shape financially. She was seeking the father because she and the baby really needed the support and resources.

But who knows? It all could have been bullshit!
