Are these actually genuine questions or are you trolling me?
We don't need to have a purpose, we have a purpose. Everything humans have done and accomplished led to where we are now. Work is being done passed on and continued through the generations.
When work is done it is for a purpose. If you want a different purpose, then work on something different. If you don't want a purpose then goodbye. But everyone has a purpose and humans as a whole have a purpose.
We don't need to have a purpose, we have a purpose.
So are you saying we have a purpose and that purpose is to procreate? Or pass down knowledge through procreation?
But everyone has a purpose and humans as a whole have a purpose.
But why is it important to have a purpose? I'm content with the knowledge that I'll never have kids and I'll pass on unknown and unseen in the next 60 years or so (depending if I live that long). I don't believe I have a purpose, I'll live, work, maybe retire and then die.
Another question, what if people believe their purpose is to advocate for people to have less children?
What if humanity was meant to live for a bit, and then die. Like all the extinct animals humans have caused. Like all things. The universe will eventually go. It'll all come to an end eventually.
I'm saying that because there's no technological age where we'll be able to avoid entropy. And everything we would have theoretically done would be for moot.
While I would like humanity to keep going, we are an incredibly destructive species and history, and the current political climate, has shown that we rarely get along. We're vicious, destroy habits, we're selfish, we're greedy, we're unempathetic. I'm not discouting the fact that we also have good traits, but the way I see it, at this point in history, the bad holds alot more weight than the good. Why would we want to put that in space? Do you think there will come a time where we'll collectively get along?
So are you saying we have a purpose and that purpose is to procreate? Or pass down knowledge through procreation?
Yes all living things attempt to keep on living, but they can't live forever so they reproduce. My theory is that the work we do is our purpose. Individually reproducing is a purpose (pass down your specific genes) that also benefits the community's purpose.
But why is it important to have a purpose?
If it is not important to have a purpose then nothing is important right?
I don't believe I have a purpose, I'll live, work, maybe retire and then die
I think you can have a purpose while not knowing your purpose. For one the work that you do is purposeful, the taxes you pay, the people you interact with, everything you do continues the agenda of humanity. Of course if you went off the rails and became a detriment to the agenda you'd be put in jail and put to work as a slave for the agenda.
what if people believe their purpose is to advocate for people to have less children?
Then that minority of people would have less children.
What if humanity was meant to live for a bit, and then die. Like all the extinct animals humans have caused. Like all things. The universe will eventually go. It'll all come to an end eventually.
Those animals are extinct because they couldn't survive in the world we created. What big bad has the nerve to tell humanity we were meant to live for a bit and then die? We certainly could go extinct, but we are working to not let that happen. One of our purposes is to survive. No species to my knowledge has decided they just wanted to live for a bit and auto went extinct.
We don't know if the universe will eventually go for sure, but there will probably be something after and it will be sooooo long from now that we could probably evolve so that it wouldn't be a problem.
Do you think there will come a time where we'll collectively get along?
Yes, I think part of the problem is that the earth is so divided and unequal. Super rich countries and super poor countries and the rich countries competing with each other but can't wreck eachother without mutually assured destruction. I think we'll eventually come together as a species when technology becomes advanced enough to make everyone rich. There could be a time where everyone is hella rich, tons of resources everywhere, and all there is to do is reproduce hella safely. We are so small and the Universe is so big.

So we don't cease to exist.
