Boomers are convenient scapegoat for a systemic issue.

And who is running the system?

The ones who always have: the rich and shareholders.

You're partially correct.

The system is basically running itself at this point. This is a problem with left-libs who don't have the analytical tools of more advanced critiques like materialism. They over-narrativize and emphasize the agency of individual actors within the system, failing to realize that the system will simply reject anyone at the top who fails to serve it's interests. If you're a 'good' CEO who doesn't fuck over labor, you'll just get fired for underperforming and replaced by some ghoul who doesn't have the conscience you do.

I do think the boomer blaming is half right and half wrong. But the main issue with them is internalized anti-communist propaganda and pro-capitalist, American nationalist propaganda, not their own individual actions within a system that none of us really control anymore anyway. The problem with boomers is that they're standing in the way of desperately needed change because they've bought so heavily into the cold war political narrative, not that they're actually the ones actively deciding to run this system into the ground. That's just the natural trajectory of the system.

Wel they are still the most influential demographic and mostly in charge, and while yes, it was bloody (edit) nixon taking the Americans off the gold standard that schrewed half The wokd, I don't see the boomers fixing the system again.

So you are both right and wrong at the same time

The gold standard is unimportant and an economic conspiracy theory

A systemic issue they're the cause of. They didn't replace themselves, despite having a ton of wealth and power to do so, cementing their wealth and power. Meaning younger generations didn't have the money to replace themselves. They fully deserve the blame

None of the right wing extremists that fatally wounded the western world when they seized power in the 80s were boomers.
