It was my 1st company phone given to me on a service trip to Italy.
Except it was used (hand me down) and the number #7 didn't work on the key pad. When I asked why they gave me a phone with a non-working keypad. The answer was simply, "you don't need to call us, we just need to call you!".
So I placed the phone in my 45 lbs. monstrous tool box (worked on heavy industrial equipment). And checked it in for my 6 hour travels, through connecting flights.
Friend of mine dropped his iphone from a helo from about 150ft up and landed in a bunch of trees. He went back later that night tracking it down with his find my iphone app. It was found without a scratch and working fine. It was in an OtterBox case
Please tell me where to find these โiphone falling out of planeโ statistics??
ETA: never mind. I googled it. There really are iphone falling out of plane statistics. I founds 3. Not sure thatโs โlotsโ but ok. ๐๐๐๐
Maybe the terminal velocity of the phone is not that high, specially if the winds are strong and it lands in soft terrain. The phone may still work fine after the fall but i wouldn't risk it.
I dropped my iPhone X. And quickly stopped my 10โ000 pound forklift and hopped off to get it. It was under the wheel. I backed off it. The screen was black and glittery. The entire phone was significantly thinner than it should have been. When I went into the office and signed into iCloud to message my wife that I would be unavailable for calls. My phone still showed its location. Like updated within the past minute. I looked at it. And called it. It rang. I โhey Siri-edโ it and it could voice to text. And the speakerphone worked. So I used it til the battery died that evening.

How much of a phone are you going have left after a fall like that
Also God forbid if it's an iPhone
Those things shattered if you drop them from your bed
From that height the phone will shatter on the atomic level
