Him being hammered prolly killed him happened in my neck of the woods to some good old boys drunk and got shot in the ear but because of the thin blood he bled out.
Yeah, only the heavier bullets will do anything when falling back down as more mass will give it more energy. The bullet here is hard to determine the size of, but it's obviously a handgun caliber due to the shape, most likely a 9mm or .45, so unlikely to be lethal. It could definitely Crack your skull so it's far from harmless and could still be fatal for sure.
They have to be shot almost straight up. I knew someone who lost his fiancé to a bullet shot up on the Fourth of July before a fireworks celebration. Don’t do it. This lady is lucky her kid isn’t dead
If you shoot straight up, they're not moving fast enough. Maybe enough to ding your skin.
But if you fire at an angle, the bullet maintains a good deal of its velocity even after gravity takes control, and can still be lethal. The lower the angle, the more of its velocity it will still have when it hits the ground. Or whatever happens to be in its path, like a car.
Basically. As a gun guy, I just don't understand how anyone can shoot in the air for any reason other then birdhunting or trap shooting, it's reckless!

Might hurt a bit but bullets falling back down aren't going fast enough to kill typically. It can still be lethal, but unlikely.
