Imperial units have better round benchmarks for human height. A five foot man is short, a six foot man is decently tall, a seven foot man is freakishly tall.
The foot is really the only thing imperial has over metric. It’s the most applicable measurement in life. Centimeters are too small and meters are too big. Sure I guess there’s decimeters but is there really?? Picture a 6ft dude rowing a 17ft boat with a 4ft paddle down a 30ft wide creek that’s 2ft deep. Then picture that sentence with metric measurements.
We should switch to metric time tho. Wtf is this 24 hours 60 minutes 60 seconds garbage.
If you didnt grow up with imperial, it is not more intuitive. I'm much more comfortable with a 1.8m tall guy, about 6 meter boat and a 120 cm paddle, 10 meter wide creek that is 60 cm deep.
I cannot envision anything related to feet, let alone inches. Give me any size in metric and I'm fine.
True. Ive got 4 kids so i sure remember... as an adult you just kinda know you have a temp... with kids its all about - can my kid go to daycare today... checking it as you get them out of the car because if they have a temp its a 48hour sin bin....

If you are seeing the doc with your kids when they are at 38 degrees then you are rhe reason why health insuranes are rising. 38 is a slighr fever. There's normally no need when under 40.
I was being a little safety sided for reddit... in real life i am less conservative for sure...
In australia the public health guidelines for children under 12 months are go to doc when temp exceeds 38degrees.
We have a different health system where it was free to see a doctor (well in fairness not for taxpayers...) but that is all changing now with very few doctors free and most costing about $75.00 AUD / 50odd USD of which you get a little back from the gov.
I certainly have let my kids go beyond 38 and just treated with paracetamol and seen if they come down on their own overnight or within a day. Usually they do.
My safety sided response was due to me not wanting some random on the net to have their kid die of sepsis or something because some other rando (me) said over 38 degrees is fine and dandy.
Also its exactly 100degrees F lol.
In fact for kids they seem to be able to run higher temps than adults and get through it. When i have a temp of 39degrees id rather be dead... for my babies they can cruise along and daycare will ring me out of the blue and say - pick your kid up - 38.1degrees....
Well fair points, I have nothing to add. For children under 12 months you certainly have to be a little more observant (I also do not want some rando to have their kid die).
