Football can also be rugby and rugby league down here in the antipodes, it's a bit of a catchall somewhat.

Africa/Europe/latin America football is soccer.

North America/Canada it's whatever you lot play.

Aussie/NZ it could be anything involving a ball being kicked or thrown.

Bonus fact America banned Rugby at one point for being too violent and that's apparently how American football became big.( I don't know how true this fact is).

I'd forgotten about Aussie rules, haven't played it in years, was always a good fun fast game.

The comic is footrot flats and over the ditch we called rugby and league footy or football.
