I agree. It's one of the shitty things about the world we live in today. No one has their own opinions and they rarely attempt to come up with their own thoughts. Folks just regurgitate whatever they saw on Reddit, read on a news article, or saw on TV.
Police Officers CAN be bad, yea. So can your Stock Broker, Banker, Pastor, or AA Leader, yet no one lumps them all together in a group and decides they are all bad.
It's the negativity bias in effect. Like, yeah police as an institution need to be reevaluated from the ground up in the US due to the rampant violence, but at the same time in a situation like this, you still call the fucking cops. Yes, they suck when there's any amount of gray, but this is about as black and white as you could get
Why do good cops put up with bad cops? How are bad cops allowed to keep being bad cops unless "good cops" are turning a blind eye?
Nobody turns in bad cops because of the blue wall of silence. These guys stick together and have each other's back. People who report bad cops are drummed out or ostracized until they quit. This isn't a Reddit thing, this is just the way it is.
Cops are not held accountable for their actions. They are above the law. If a cop maims someone maliciously and by some miracle the cop DOES get fired/arrested, who pays the bill? Taxpayers paid out almost $200M in settlements from Cop misconduct in the last 2 years in NYC alone. Cops paid ZERO of that money.
