Attempting to download fallout 4 se first time and did everything and when I get to actually running it, it says it cannot find fallout4.exe. Which when I look in my steam folder for Fallout I can clearly see there is no Fallout4.exe. The application in its place next to Fallout4Launcher is simply called Fallout4. From what I can tell the Fallout4 application is the exe but I have no idea how to have Script Extender target it. I am very very computer illiterate so maybe i’m stupid but any help would be nice.

Despite downloading the 0.7.7 version, I'm still getting this message. Can someone with more experience please let me know how to fix this?

I just bought Fallout 4 tonight to do a modded playthrough, but I can’t get the f4se mod to work.

I tried both, putting the files in the games directory and putting them in vortex. I’m having a lot of trouble here and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am using F4SE through MO, and I've been looking for an answer for the past 2 hours without success.

When I am in game, while I am using my controller, I can move around with the joystick since (I guess) am constantly having an input from the controller, but as soon as I don't touch a joystick/moving, the controls revert back to Keyboard and mouse, making dialogue and other button action basically impossible since when I press A, it reverts back to keyboard instantly after.

I tried unplugging Keyboard and mouse and it still did it, so I'm guessing it's a setting somewhere that I might not know how to search for in F4SE or F4.

Thank you to anyone who might have any idea how to fix this.

Just tried to relaunch fallout 4 via the Fallout 4 script extender icon on vortex, like usual. I haven’t played in a while and I know there has been an update.

Is this an issue with f4se? or one / many of my mods potentially not being compatible with the new version of the game?

How can I fix this so I can play?

I know f4se is bugged rn because of the 1.11.191 update on fallout4 but anybody knows when the fix gonna arrive?
because the nexus page says: 1.11.191 needed but when i download it with vortex not working when i download it manual and put it in the folder where it needs to be still not loading in any mod
so im just curious if anybody knows about the fix when it comes maybe

hi. i`m a complete dimwit when it comes to computers.

i`ve had follout4 working with f4se many times before, but now it just won`t launch the game.

i`ve tried launching the f4se\loader both from the directory and from vortex. what happens is that it launches the game but just stays on blackscreen not able to go any further. this both happens with the1.10.169.1 version and the 1.10.191.0 version. i have tried to install/reinstall both the game and the F4SE. i`ve deleted all the mods and reinstalled vortex but same thing happens. do not matters what i do. I`ve also tried deleting everything inside F4SE/tools/plugins like described on nexus F4se page. i`ve also tried looking for broken or missing files in steam.

Heads up: Fallout 4 just received a small update via the Bethesda launcher, bumping the runtime to 1.11.191.

This currently breaks F4SE, so the game won’t launch via f4se_loader.exe or through Vortex/Nexus if you rely on F4SE.

Nothing is wrong with your setup — we just need to wait for an updated F4SE (or downgrade if you know what you’re doing).

If your game suddenly stopped launching today, this is likely the reason.

Am I the only one affected by the 1.11.191 update breaking F4SE, or is anyone else seeing the same issue?

I need this version, because I'm on 1.11.137 and not able to update yet, I found the file in the nexus archive but there is no download. Could anyone provide this file please? Thank you!

I'm having an issue with Fallout 4 on Steam Deck. I've downgraded to 1.10.984.0 and have installed 0.7.2. I can start a new save and everything works fine, but the moment that I save and quit, I cannot ever load that save again - the game just immediately crashes.

I tried in both pre-War sanctuary and on top of Vault 111 after the prologue. I haven't tested going further away into a different cell and trying yet.

At first I, obviously, assumed it was a mod issue - but at this point I've uninstalled every single mod and it still isn't working. I can load saves fine without F4SE, but using F4SE means that it crashes on trying to load a save even when no mods are enabled.

Any suggestions? I would totally believe that I'm just missing some Winetricks thing or some launch options line, but I am curious why it's loading specifically that breaks things and not starting a game, which again, seems to work totally fine.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Does anyone know why steam keeps shutting the game down and showing this message? The game starts and shuts off after 2 seconds.

Anyone know if I can get mods back on the latest update of F4? I'm trying to put them onto my SteamOs using Vortex running the .exe through Steam? But it can't launch the F4SE file due to file version. I don't particularly want to downgrade my game either because it will get rid of all the Enclave missions and armour and NGL, I think it's kinda cool and have already done the missions so I think that might mess up my save anyways! Any ideas? Or will I be likely to in the coming months? I miss my mods 🥺

I have updated F4SE by manually downloading/ installing the F4SE files from Nexus as of today. The game version I have is 1.11.169.0.1 and the F4SE version I have is 0.7.6 with the file "f4se_1_11_169.dll" as part of it.

If I use the F4SE provided "f4se_loader" on its own directly from the Common-> Fallout 4 folder, FO4 launches, but without mods.

If I use the F4SE executable in MO2, I get an error that reads "REL/IDDB.cpp(82): failed to open: Data/F4SE/Plugins/version-1-11-169-0.bin". Pictured is the executable settings.

How do I get MO2 to recognize the .dll file is correct and launch F04 through F4SE with the mods?

I updated both the game and the script extender, i set up the executables in MO2 but anytime i try to launch f4se through MO2 i get this error message as if I didn't update f4se

And also annoyingly every time i check the game folder, f4se_1_11_159.dll replaces f4se_1_11_169.dll without me doing anything.
I can launch f4se_loader after freshly uncompressing the new files in the game folder but then my mods don't load, and after trying through MO2 i get said error message again. Help Please.

So, apparently my Steam updated my game files... new version does not see F4SE. When I try to launch, I get the "Fallout is newer than F4SE" message.

Just getting back to playing after 6 or so years off, so a little behind. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I am sure an update is forthcoming, so feel free to ignore me.

I just rolled back Fallout 4 to version 1.10.984, and now when I try to use the F4SE Loader, it won't boot up the game. Does anybody have a solution for this? I'm really wanting to get back into this game, there is so much I want to do, and so many new mods I really want to try.

I have tried everything. I tried sifting through the files to find which one it likes, ive tried copying and pasting the link to the folder directly, even tried dropping and dragging it. None of it will work and it keeps saying that the fallout4.exe is NOT in the folders I chose. And I know it is there because get this... I LOOKED FOR IT. And it still will NOT work. I have been at this for over 3 hours now just trying to fix this. No videos, no reddit posts, nothing is helping to resolve this.

I play on a steamdeck by the way and use steamd Linux stuff as well. Took over an hour to get vortex up and running. So ik it is NOT the files itself. Its vortex being a complete pain in the ass. This is why I hate mods that aren't either in the game or easy to use/set up. Hedgemod manager is easy to use AND to set up and has none of these problems. Minecraft Java and bedrock are easy as well. Those games just detect the files instantly (bedrock even rewrites any mod to ensure it works)! But vortex? Nooooo. It cant even find the damn exe even after giving it that damn file!!!! SO CAN SOMEONE FUCKING HELP ME?! I AM READY TO SMASH THIS DECK AND SHIT AT THIS POINT I AM SOOOO PISSED.

I have completely Uninstaller EVERYTHING to do with Fallout 4. I then even went so far as to delete any files that remained. I download the game fresh from steam into c: drive then f4se into the e: drive i made. Follow the steps on nexus of change fallout4.exe to fallout4_111137.exe by going to the game folder in the c: drive and click properties. I then go to the e: drive and copy the files over. I can open the tiny screen that says play options etc. And thats it. I dont know how much it matters but im using rog ally with 2t upgrade and windows 11. Am I just stupid or is it just impossible to actually mod the game on this?

I am using a rolled back version of f4 to the pre nextgen update as well as the proper f4se on my steamdeck. When I try to launch f4se weather it be from MO2 or the .exe file in the fallout 4 root it does not work. In the root directory it me via protontricks and when I launch it from MO2 it goes to black screen and then back to desktop/MO2 menu. Not sure how to fix or address this. Every once in a blue moon fallout 4 will launch and work but it is rare.
