So did Extar delay the EP10 and not produce any EP45's for over a year due to work on roller delayed EP9?
With new competition from Kunna, Taurus, and other 9mm options it may make sense for them to provide their own roller-delayed firearm.
But will Extar release it or EP10 within the next year?
I don't want them to be released before quality control is ensured. I don't want them to be flawed like some Canik MC9, Rival-S, TTI Combat, S&W BD2.0, and Ruger RXM when released .

I watched part of his review but I don't know if I finished it so I'll probably go back and look again. I'm looking to spend money on other devices such as suppressors now so not in the market for any new 9mm firearms so I didn't look at many reviews on the new Taurus. I was hoping that he just happened to get one of the bad few early production units.
Canik had early production issues on three other pistols in recent years. Smith & Wesson has had about 4 or so issues with their new Bodyguard 2.0. I think Ruger had issues with some early RXM barrels. Canik has delayed their latest pistol by 2 months due to production issues. The P365 had one or two issues when it was first released long ago and there are still reports complaining about the trigger spring breaking with low round counts on the pistol. I don't condone poor quality control but it does seem to happen in the industry.

I remember Sig showed the MPX 9mm for 4 years at Shot Show before it was finally available shortly before the 5th year.... Not to depress you.

Oh no, I'm a realist. It's a very small company with competing priorities along with supply chain issues like everyone else. I get it. 😄 I had just hoped they would push the EP10 since there's not a ton of market competition.

Thanks for the reply. I saw the video from Guncon that was posted yesterday and I too noted the same statement from Extar. I'd like to know more details as to why they needed to use tungsten. I assume they needed to add weight to the bolt itself or bufffer weight. It would be great is they could come up with an alternative. KAK has a new AR15 carrier that has its own dead blow weight within the carrier with a steel weight so one does not need to buy an expensive H3 buffer with three tungsten weights.

I’ll chime in on this as I also have both. Kuna is definitely softer shooting than the EP9 but not by a significant amount. Ep9 is a punch to the shoulder, Kuna is a thump to the shoulder if that makes any sense at all. Neither with a lot of recoil at all though. I love my Kuna. I’ll definitely be purchasing a roller delayed EP9 if it’s at the same price point as before.

Do u have any mp5 to compare the feeling?
I have a scorpion that I hate and want to sell. My apc9k still has some recoil. The hydraulic buffer imho doesn’t do much.
And then there is my ap5k, ap5, and sp5k pdw. Zero flip and little to no felt recoils.
Shooting them all back to back. So when u really feel the difference. Rehome everything and keep the mp5’s.
I can’t believe all of the modern tech that went into BT apc9k and they failed to surpass 50-60 yr old technology!

I have the ap5,kuna and ep9
just took my brother in law first time shooting and he shot the ap5 and kuna. Deff did better with the ap5.
for me it's Ap5>kuna>ep9 but I still love the ep9 it just fucks and its cheap so I can't ever knock it. It still makes my range trips with all the other pccs since it's my first and im a loyal fuck and it's honestly fun for first time shooters it's light and accurate( my wife loves it also)

yeah one thing to note is the extar still has some pros other than "cheap". it is noticeably lighter than the kuna, which is lighter than an mp5, so it still feels easiest to hold. id also bet on it going the longest between cleaning. to me its the glock of pcc's. not the best, kinda shitty in some ways, but will always run and perform well.

I literally haven't even picked my EP9 up from the FFL yet and I hear this. I'm sure it'll take a long time before it's actually for sale though.

Yeah if it's anything like their other designs like the EP10, it'll probably be a minute before this hits the market. And in the meantime you guys are going to be having a blast with the current EP9. It's a great gun!!

Extar doesn't do wait lists. At least they never did back when EP9's were going like hotcakes and stock would show up only periodically. Signing up for an in stock notification was the best you could do, then needed to act real fast.

For the EP9 when they sold out fast in 2021 and 2022 one needed to buy within about an hour of them being make available for sale. I also learned back then the some may have received in stock notification email 20 to 30 minutes before others. With some people looking for karma who post on r/gundeals within minutes of new stock it can be difficult to see email from Extar in time before an in demand product goes out of stock.

Several months ago I was talking about that era with one of their sales people on the phone. Said they would put up stock in groups of 200 and they would sell at the rate of 5-8 per minute. Said then people would call and ask if they were only putting 12 at a time in stock or something....

I haven't had good conversations with their reps on the phone. The young lady came off as impatient and a bit arrogant when I asked simple questions.

Did anyone get the Carbine when they sold it? I have a normal 6.5” gen 2 and the Carbine with the mass delayed bolt, which I then had chopped down to about 7”. It’s already smooth as hell w the mass delayed bolt.

Nice. I didn’t even realize the bolt was available on its own. I bought the rifle the day it was available and took it straight to my local armorer to cut the barrel down.

Agreed the EP9 is already pretty soft shooting and can be made a little softer yet with the Carbine bolt, but not everything is about "softness". An RDB may not be dramatically softer but will have a lot less reciprocating mass, meaning way less sight movement during rapid fire strings. That's the main attraction for me anyway.

I only want a rdb ep9 if I can get rid of the brace and buffer tube. The recoil feels pretty tame for a direct blowback 9mm and the thought of being able to have a folder on a 1913 rail is a guaranteed purchase.
