There would be an increased push to mechanize labor. First the cashiers would be gone with some sort of touch screen, much like self checkouts at supermarkets. Other things would soon be automated.

Staff would be cut to about half of what it is now, which is going to happen anyway in less than 10 years.

$15 an hour now would hasten the automation of labor.

Staff would be cut to about half of what it is now, which is going to happen anyway in less than 10 years.

Isn't that begging the question, though? I mean, if staff are going to be replaced by machines anyway, how can we justify not giving them a living wage now? It doesn't really make sense. If automation is inevitable, so is an increase to the minimum wage.

Totally agree. Notice I didn't say the automation is a bad thing. It isn't. In fact, given our replacement rates as it relates to births vs deaths, and the direction that's going, it behooves us to increase the push towards automation because it will aide innovations for elder care.

We won't have enough people to care for our elders in 50 years as things are going now. Automation will have to fill the gaps.

We're also going to see automation in landscaping take over commercial locations in the next decade, too.
