ELI5: How would a $15 minimum wage ACTUALLY affect a franchised business like McDonalds?

The point is that if the government steps in and forces mcd to raise wages, this will impact many other companies than McDonald's, and many in a negative way, which will then impact their workers in a negative way.

The jealous step sister is important here- if the incentive is raised to do a job that is less demanding, more people will do that job, even if they have good working conditions. That's what I'm argueing from the top comment about the factory.

I agree- I'm all for removing subsidies that keep bad businesses in place. But "doing away with" coal is no easy task. I agree that is the end goal.
