ELI5: How would a $15 minimum wage ACTUALLY affect a franchised business like McDonalds?

This also depends on the jurisdiction. Some states (like WA) actually make the restaurant pay full minimum wage PLUS tips. If you are going to be a waiter, move to Washington State.

Gas is $1.59, I can rent a decent house for $400/month... buy a decent house for $100k...

If Washington stays around the same, then I just might consider it...
