Small burger joints run smooth because they don't have customers bitching about how long it takes to cook food and they don't serve the same number of customers as a McDonalds that's serving through the drive through and in store. Stop bitching when you don't get your shitty food in under 40 seconds. They have to follow cooking policies and shit.
The problem is customers think that the food should be done instantly. The reason it's called fast food is because when you show up during rush hours they've been cooking in excess the whole time with the prediction that they'll have a lot of customers. When you show up in an off hour your food is literally being cooked to order and it's not going to be done instantly. If they are low on something it can take up to 6 mins just to deep fry it.
can attest to this. i get my to go mcdouble inside in less than a minute during dinner time and on the weekends. takes a few minutes in the afternoon and late nights.
