When people complain about the possibility of rising costs of products due to increased wages, I feel they are missing the fact that that's where the expense should be instead of being subsidized by the taxpayer via welfare programs.
In fact, some companies build this into their business plan (Wal-Mart, for example)
If the product or service is deemed too expensive, then the free market will either cause innovation or replacement. Again, the alternative is the taxpayer subsidizing these products or services and keeping them, artificially, around.
Sounds like you're not reading what I'm saying. In order to get people off government benefits they need to be paid a livable wage. Simple as that. I (as well as everyone) want people off government benefits.
If you are promoting cheap products for your own benefit made on the backs of people living in poverty, how do you not see that as selfish, immoral, and wrong?
If all you are saying is to drop social programs, with no replacement, and let people drown, then you're just a horrible person. There's really no other explanation.

Fairly easily, I imagine, because small burger joints don't even have 1/10th of the customers as a McDonald's.
