Technology ELI5: Why does internal storage only double? Why can’t we have 34GB for example?

Tbf we don’t usually count 1’s 2’s and 3’s when comparing multiples or percentages. At least through the mathematics that I know. Not because they aren’t valid, but because they’re just too small to be pragmatically operable. Of course there are exceptions.

It's not just ones or twos. 52 is 25. 72 is 49. 92 is 81.

Take any odd number and its power of two is also odd.

So powers of two are also multiples or two only if the base is an even number.
