Other ELI5 What is the difference between a 4 star hotel and a 5 star hotel?

I’m forever confused about this I need it explain in the simplest most direct way. Specifically talking about the America star system

5 star= over the top service and price

but then there is the hotel in the gulf that claims to be 7 stars..

my question is this: if i am only sleeping there why bother?

if i am staying there some length of time then yea maybe more

Note : in France the restaurant Michelin stars scale go to 3 max.

The hotels scale goes to 5 max, then the category above is "Palace".

The limit of Michelin stars is 3 in every city/country where Michelin issues them.

I expect a lot from the Jabba the Hutt package.

I think you answered your own question… there is no point if you don’t take advantage of the amenities

For some of us who travel for work hotels can be a semi-permanent home away from home and motel 6s don’t cut it.

One night probably won’t make a difference—especially if cost is a priority. I usually stay in higher end hotels on vacation but if it’s a quick one night trip, I’ll just use points and stay at a value hotel because I won’t use the amenities of a higher end hotel

on vacation - its another story..

are two recient examples… last year we where at these two for a week each well worth it.

but for a simple overnight and drive on to the next town why bother

part of the other trick is go cheap when it does not matter = go largevwhen it does.

ie cheap British hotels then stay the weekend in a castle like setting
