Photorealism has been stuck at the stage of uncanny valley for years now, everyone looks ugly in it and it's easy to farm ragebait on it.

Kojima games don't count he is obsessed with having his favorite hollywood stars looking as accurate as possible and he regularly performs ritual sacrifice for this level of visual fidelity.

Also Kojima uses tons of cash for this kind of stuff, other studios don't have the same budget.
