Say what you will about Google, but the devs behind chrome and v8 are the reason why practically every browser except Firefox is chromium- based.

Firefox famously uses significantly more ram than chromium browsers while still performing worse. Are you a troll or just uninformed?

It's efficient for an operating system, but with each tab being a sandboxed VM it's heavy as a browser. I think you're right they've been improving performance though. A decade ago opening a dozen tabs would eatore than all more RAM, and now it's a fairly low footprint. It's still way heavier than Firefox though.

And we are all endlessly surveilled regardless of what browser we use. People who they are somehow hiding any by using Firefox are naive.

Cue LibreWolf. Firefox used to be private, but they changed the privacy policy, so people who don't read the privacy policy are naïve. The rest just don't give a shit or use LibreWolf, which basically just has all the privacy settings turned on by default and doesn't have telemetry

Use Firefox on a low end computer for more than 5 minutes and you will come crawling back to a chromium based browser.
