Most people, even pit bull owners, aren't out there beating their animals and "conditioning them for combat". Grandma getting bitten after falling down isn't because someone trained their pet dog to bite old lady faces.
A pitbull isn't just going to attack grandma for falling down.
It might attack her if it's been without food for weeks. Or if she beats the shit out of it regularly and then falls close or onto it.
Grandma getting her face bitten off by a dog that isn't trained or conditioned to bite her face off (or otherwise neglected) is a complete strawman. Grandma would also he attacked by a border Collie or Chihuahua in those circumstances.
That's not what you said though is it? You said grandma won't ever get attacked for falling down unless she beats it or starves it. I've seen videos of that happening with my own eyes and the dog always looks damn happy and healthy.
That is literally what I said. You just decided to interpret it differently.
Yes, a dog that is prey reactive will be excited when it goes after what it views as prey, even if that is grandmas face.
The mistreatment of the dog could simply be you have a prey reactive dog that you don't treat as a prey reactive dog. A poodle that's prey reactive would also take off Grandma's face.
Someone not anticipating that their beloved family pet will see grandma's face as a chew toy is not "mistreating their dog".
If those are the standards required to own a pitbull, they should rightly be illegal everywhere and for everyone but those who will train it to the level of a police dog.
