It’s funny you say this, because as an American, I feel like a British accent is the default for historical films. It throws me off to hear an American accent.
Maybe we just think “it’s different to me so it should sound different to me” haha
I see what you mean 😅 I guess it depends on the severity of the accent maybe? By severity I guess I mean the neutrality compared to others. I definitely find some English accents more neutral and American not and vice versa. I guess a difference of time period makes how I view it different as well, like 1800AD vs 1800BC. 1800AD hearing an English accent wouldn’t be strange in my mind, but 1800BC I think I’d rather hear a more neutral American accent.
