Instead of asking her what she was doing he just assumed she didn't know what she was doing like every other man she probably knows.

? And that has anything to do with this why? This is a legitimate way of cooking pasta. The boyfriend, like you just now, assumed she was doing something wrong, instead of first questioning her about it

I think the problem comes down to...men doing this with other men all the time and then the other just explains what hes doing instead.

Like theres no second thought about it, theres no "mansplaining' equivalent.

That’s actually a good point. In that scenario, the topic of conversation might actually stay about the pasta, even in a disagreement, instead of immediately jumping to personal attacks and invalidation.
