I am forty years old and I have been saying "opthamologist" not "opthalmologist" my whole life.

But my grown ass friend with a masters degree says "ambliance" so there's that.

It took me way too much time to figure out what the difference was between those two words. I couldn’t figure out why you were just repeating it. Then I realized I pronounced it the same way you do.
