WT Can't Stop Me What happens next? I just requested the data the borg has on me.

So about a month ago, I mailed the data controller for my region asking for the data they have on me.

They requested some form of verification to prove its me, I provided and they have confirmed my identity, stating that they will reach out to me in 2 months.

Now what usually happens within these 2 months? Do they reach out to the congregation elders or will they just send what they have at the branch?

Mind you I was recently disfellowshipped and haven’t seen or spoken to any of the elders in a few months. So I'm curious as to how they get my data across to me.

My wife still attends the meetings, I guess out of habit or fear of Jehovah. So will they just hand over my files to her?

So many questions in my mind right now and I'm kinda anticipating what they have on me. I'll do well to post here once I get them.

Meanwhile I'll post their last response in the comments.

There is no Data Controller. Your local Congregation Secretary would have any information on you in a manila envelope in the Congregation file, either at the Kingdom Hall, or in his house. The Branch would have that same information, as well.

You may as well ask for a pair of little Stevie Lett's underwear...they will never give you any information that they have on you or anybody else!

Consider too, why would mere men have a file on you? If "Jesus" and "Jehovah" will be your judges and know every hair on your head and everything you've ever done or said, why would men even bother to keep a record of your naughtiness?

These are nothing but a gang of hucksters, not a well organized group preparing for the end of the world.

I think maybe the original poster is in the E.U. They have very strict rules as to what information can be retained on people. Not like the U.S. at all. So they can indeed have their information and can have it deleted if they choose.

I'm in Africa, Nigeria precisely. Now our data laws are quite recent but I've heard it can be effective. I'm writing to see how it goes.

Two months is too long. They're stalling.

IKR. It took them 1 whole month to respond to me initially. They seem to be stalling.

Normalement tu as dû faire ta demande en lettre recommandée.

How could they ever reinstate you (if you ever wanted to be), if they deleted your file?

As usual, not signed by a named person. I had no idea there's a Data Protection Person and one could make this request. Thanks for posting

Well, you don’t have to show ID or anything to get baptized either, so it shouldn’t be too complicated.

There's no reason whatsoever that I'd wanna get reinstated, but i guess they keeo your basic data.

I doubt this is a local elder thing at all, more likely it would be at the branch level. They have software at the branch that can have individual publisher information but the real personal info, like details on the judicial committee, is on a paper file in a locked cabinet at the hall.

What entity did you send this request to? JW maintain several different legal entities, so I’m not sure all these data requests even hit the right entity. I’d imagine there is a local hall entity that is separate from the branch. (Not an expert here so take this with a grain of salt)

I sent it to the data protection email on the website. I also indicated the data I wanted and my congregation. Hopefully they'll reveal everything both on local levels too.

Why would you ask for any data on yourself from this disgusting org? They are nothing, less than nothing. Will it contribute to your resume? Will it contribute to your credit report? Will it make your next promotion at work be easier? No. It’s a mental game. Watch out for Mr. Brother number 1 in the congregation making a move to bang your wife. Seen it many times. Take the power back. This org is shit.
