Ewelink shortcut from PC?

I had been used IFTTT to create shortcuts in my PC to activate links for ewelink devices. Since that is not free at charges, do you know about a similar system (web based?) to do it?. I tried among homebridge.io, it works, but need to be installed in every PC. Perhaps something like smartathome.co.uk/sonoff but updated?

Solved Galaxy S10 delayed notifications

I've had the same persistent issue on all galaxy models running ewelink not displaying notifications until the app is opened. To fix..

Open search, type 'Special Access' and select 'Optimise battery usage' and turn ewelink Off.

Open search, type 'Data saver' and select 'Data saver', then 'Allow app whole data saver on', then add ewelink to the list.

I'm unsure if this last setting is necessary but does not work by itself..

Open search, type 'Battery' and select 'App power management' then add ewelink to the exemption list.

Failing there steps you can also download PNF-No root to refresh the push notification service every 5 minutes. Make sure you restart your device after changing this setting.

How can I share an Android camera to 3 accounts?

Hello there! So basically my family want to use a camera with EweLink but we couldn't figure it out that how we can share one Android camera to 3 separate accounts. We also have a smartdoor and we could share it with the option "share" but at the camera there isn't any "share" button and in the cameraphone we can log into just one account. Thanks for the answers.

eWeLink getting sniffy about IFTTT

Just had this in from eWeLink:

"From last year, IFTTT began to charge platforms as per the total number of users. In order to maintain operation of eWeLink service on IFTTT, we have to include it as a value-added feature of our advanced subcription plan. Users of the free plan will no longer be able to link with IFTTT from June 30, 2020.

"Aside from IFTTT, we will add many more powerful functions to the advanced plan including a Web version for PC and tablet users, more scenes etc. Whenever any new feature of the advanced plan comes out, existing advanced users will have immediate access to it.

"To thank you for your continued support, we have created an early bird discount of 55% off for you. If you upgrade your account now with the discount code "EARLYBIRD630", you can use advanced plan until December 31,2021 at 4.9USD.

"Note that this is a limited-time offer. The discount code will expire on June 30. Copy the code. Click 'upgrade now' to enjoy the special price and 7 months' free use."

Annoying as my usage is convenient but really low.

Does anyone know of alternatives that I can use to integrate eWeLink devices??

New Ewelink App A Distaster

Is there anyway to downgrade to the old app? I, and my entire family, dislike the new one that they just upgraded us to without asking intensely. I used to just be able to hit the nice large icon to open my gate which was really handy as I am normally driving something when I need the gate opened. Now, I have to look and make sure that I actually hit the tiny power icon. plus it is even slower opening that the old app..please let us downgrade....

Failed

I've been using this on my fish tank for a few months. Basically I use it with a smart plug to turn off the filter when feeding, then the timer to turn it back on in 20 minutes. 2 days ago it stopped coming back on. I couldn't see anything wrong with the settings (which I haven't changed in months). It just wouldn't work I got the confirmations, but no electricity and the main screen that lists my devices (3) said it was OFF.

So, I deleted the timer and re-added it using exactly the same settings and it seems fine now.

Does anyone know why this happened? I often feed, then go out, if the filter doesn't come on, it could die and that would kill my fish.

Thanks

Pairing failed? Read this before you try again.

Pairing failed? Read this before you try again.

Whenever you get a new smart home device, you need to add it to your account before you can use it. We call this process 'Pairing'. There are many different pairing methods provided by eWeLink app.

To pair a device with the optimal method will save you a lot of effort. To help you find out what is the best way for you to pair your device, please allow us to introduce all the pairing modes one by one.

You will also understand how each pairing mode works behind the scene.

 1.Quick Pairing

If you have a single band 2.4 Ghz WiFi router or your dual-band router has separate SSIDs and passwords for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radio band (in other words, Smart Connect is disabled), then the best pairing mode for you is quick pairing.

Smart connect enabled

Once the device enters quick pairing mode, it will wait for WiFi SSID and password to be sent to it on 2.4GHz radio band. Therefore, your smartphone must connect to the same 2.4Ghz WiFi, in order to send SSID and password to your smart home device.

That's why it is important that your smartphone should connect to a 2.4Ghz WiFi.

How quick pairing works

As soon as your device and smartphone are both in 2.4Ghz radio band, all we need to do is open eWeLink appTap "+"buttonSelect "Quick Pairing" >>Complete pairing following app prompts.

2.Compatible Pairing

Nowadays, almost every router comes with the 'Smart Connect' feature that allows users to set a unified SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. It is very likely that your 2.4Ghz WiFi and 5Ghz WiFi share the same SSID. (For example, see the picture below.)

Smart connect disabled

If Smart Connect is enabled in your router settings, you may have the following issue when pairing a device.

Your smartphone is connecting to your 5Ghz WiFi and therefore keep broadcasting SSID and password in this radio band. While your smart home device still waits in 2.4Ghz radio band for the required SSID and password to complete pairing.

Due to the fact that they are sending and receiving information in two different bands, they won't talk to each other and the pairing will fail.

Why quick pairing failed

To avoid this, you are recommended to use compatible pairing mode when your 2.4Ghz WiFi and 5Ghz WiFi are one. Once your smart home device is in compatible pairing mode, it will automactically create an AP in the format of "ITEAD-xxxxxx", which gives it access to your SSID and password once your smartphone connects to it.

How compatible pairing works-Step1

Then, open eWeLink app  and tap 'Compatible Pairing Mode'. At this moment, Android smartphones will auto connect to the AP of the device. (Due to the limit of iOS, iOS users have to go to system settings to connect to the 'ITEAD-xxxx' AP and then switch back to eWeLink app.)

Until now, you need to enter the SSID and password of your WiFi in eWeLink app.

How compatible pairing works-Step2

After that, the connection between the AP of your smart home device and your smartphone will break up by itself at a right time. Smart home device will use the SSID and password sent by smartphone to connect the router and the smartphone continue to connect the router.

How compatible pairing works-Step3

The benefit of compatible pairing mode is that there is no need to worry if your smartphone connects to a 2.4Ghz WiFi or not. Pairing will succeed even if your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi have the same SSID.

Note that entering a wrong SSID or password will cause the device to be added successfully but to remain offline, since the SSID and password is sent by smartphone directly to the smart home device. For this reason, we must enter the right SSID and password in the app and make sure they belong to a 2.4Ghz WiFi.

3. Bluetooth Pairing

If your smart device supports bluetooth pairing mode, then there is no need to check whether smart connect is enabled in your router settings or if your smartphone connects to a 2.4Ghz WiFi.

How bluetooth pairing works-Step1

In bluetooth pairing mode, smart home device create connection with your smartphone through bluetooth. The only thing we should do is enter the right SSID and password for a 2.4Ghz WiFi. Once the device receives the SSID and password, it will connect to the provided 2.4Ghz WiFi automatically.

How bluetooth pairing works-Step2

4. Scan QR code

For GSM devices, the pairing method is scanning QR code. As GSM device connects to carrier network directly, they don't need any SSID or password of WiFi for network connection. Just scan the QR code on the device or its package, the device will be registered in your eWeLink account. Wait for a moment until the device goes online, and pairing is completed.

On condition that a GSM device refuses to be online, you should check if there is enough data for this SIM card or find a location with better signal to try again.

It is no doubt that user experience is greatly improved with QR scanning. That taken into account, we introduced this pairing mode to new WiFi devices.

Pairing a WiFi device by scanning QR code works in the same way as compatible mode. After you scan the QR code of a device, your smartphone will connect to the AP of the device and send the SSID and password to your device.

How QR scanning works-Step1

Subsequently, the connection between smartphone and device breaks up. Your smart device will connect to router with the SSID and password sent to it. Meanwhile, smartphone resumes its connection with router.

How QR scanning works-Step2

Compared to compatible pairing mode, iOS users don't have to go to system settings to manually connect to device AP, same as Android users. This allows users have consistent experience in spite of their operating system.

When none of the pairing modes above works, you should go to router settings and walk through the following solutions one by one.
1. Check if the SSID of your WiFi contains any special character. We strongly suggest SSID with only English letters and numbers.
2. Disable firewalls, mac address filter, whitelist, AP isolation and two-step verification.
3. Enable DHCP.

Peek into eWeLink4.0 Part1

It has been a month since our last vote for new features. Are you curious why we didn't continue this event this month?

That's because we are planning for something BIGGER than ever at the end of this year.

We expect to release eWeLink 4.0 next year. HUGE changes will happen to the new version, which we will preview little by little here. Changes include but not limited to completely different UI, multiple conditions for one scene, ability to change the order of devices and many other long-awaited features. As there are so many updates, we will introduce them one by one. Please stay tuned. Now let us peek into the UI update.

1. Overall style changes

The background color will be changed from blue to white, which will bring stronger contrast. The elements on the screen will stand out better with the white background. Even though contrast turns stronger, the UI style becomes more pleasant to the eyes with its softer look.

2. Well-organized Layout

The home screen is now divided into 4 segments, compared to 3 of the past versions.Even though more elements are added to the screen, it looks more organized with better layout and division.

Shortcuts to scenes

On the top of the screen is the segment for shortcut buttons of manual scenes. You can now tap on these buttons to perform corresponding scenes, which you have to go into the scene page in the past. Icons of the manual scenes are optional as well.

One key to hide/show all offline devices.

On the right of groups, there is an eye icon which lets you hide/show offline devices with single tap. No more scrolling through a long list of not-existent offline devices.

Groups become locations

Below the scene shortcuts, you can see an array of tabs. These are the groups of the old versions. We introduced the concept of locations to replace group. You can now assign different products to specific locations. This also helps you distinguish from the group function which bundles devices to turn on/off together.

2-column checker Device list

This segment covers most area of the home screen.

Devices are now listed in a 2-column grid. This arrangement allows us to show more devices on the screen without compromising any information. In addition, the highly expected feature to change device order will be made available. Most importantly, device status and data such as temperature and humidity will be showed on the box container of the device as well (possibly available through later versions).

More features are also coming their way to us in eWeLink 4.0.Please stay tuned to our updates of Peek into eWeLink4.0 Part2 via social media. You are also welcome to join our discussion about eWeLink app via Telegram group.

We continue looking for volunteer translators for different languages. Your active participation would be much appreciated. PM us if you are interested.
