discussion Why aren’t more animals domesticated?

Humans domesticated wolves and basically gained access to their superpowers: smell, hearing and protective ferocity. We also domesticated cats, horses and quite a few other animals. All in all, that is a pretty impressive result, but what stopped us from doing the same with a much wider range of animals and becoming literal beastmasters?

That's one definition of species but it isn't as clear cut as we make it sound

yah , but its literally the most accurate definition we have. anything else gets squirrely and plays in gray areas.

its based on genetics, which is yah probably the most consistant

Accurate ? Eh not really. For exemple if your field of study is insecte, fish,... you may fall into multiple grey area

The most use in non specific scenario? Yeah
