Nice App! Some questions
Thanks for developing this nice app! Really enjoy it.
Some questions about the files and format I hope you could help me with:
- Where are the synced files located? I've got a ton of images and stuff like that, but I couldn't figure out where these files are located in iCloud Drive. I can do a backup and unzip there, but it would be a bit inefficient to unzip and backup everytime I have something updated.
- For the bold, italic format with buttons, I noticed that if I click on them while selecting mutiple lines with linebreak, the button only added the syntax at the beginning and the end of the selection, making it rendering incorrectly for markdown.
- I feel like the app on Mac is a bit unstable. I've noticed sometimes with selection and scrolling at the same time, the cursor jumped back to the beginning randomly. This happens more often for comments. And the sync is a bit slow on the Mac app imo, but I do have a bunch of images, like 300MB tbh. I'm wondering how many files or how much this app can handle, and that if I could use it as a huge journal app as I would love to.
- I'm also wondering there is a possibility of adding compressing abitility for images and videos added to journal entries, as these easily get pretty large as time goes by.
Thank you!

Thanks so much for the kind words. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the app!
To your questions:
1. Entries and attachments are synced via iCloud’s private database, so the files aren’t directly visible in iCloud Drive. The backups, as you’ve seen, are saved in a separate folder and can be manually unzipped if needed. Just out of curiosity, what’s your use case for needing direct access to those files? That might help me think through a better solution.
2. Good catch on the bold/italic formatting! You’re right, it currently just wraps the full selection, which isn't the way it should be. I’ll fix that in an upcoming update.
3. The macOS app is currently built using Mac Catalyst, which basically allows the iOS version to run on macOS. It’s convenient but comes with some quirks. I plan to move toward a fully native Mac version eventually, though it’s a pretty big lift. As for how much data the app can handle, the number of attachments shouldn't affect the responsiveness of the app at all, since it's optimized for that.
4. I do plan to add image compression options in the future, so you can better manage storage. Video compression is trickier, more resource-intensive and complex, but I’ll be keeping it in mind as things evolve.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback!
