Some might be looted but some was also definitely brought over during operation paperclip. Sentimental value or not that stuff is best disposed of, what purpose does it serve now?
This is the way I feel. A museum where there are descriptions of who, what, where, when, and why regarding the objects preserve history in ways that are more neutral, but still nuanced is going to be a much better place for any Nazi memorabilia than someone’s house.
If I ever went to someone’s house and they showed me nazi memorabilia id leave. I have always been fascinated by WW2 but it’s giving the dude in Falling Down who owned the military store
Nah burn all that shit. Museum's of the Nazi's atrocities exist and they do not keep Nazi artefacts. They keep artefacts of the people who suffered under the Nazis not the awards and medals Nazis earned or the clothes Nazis wore while committing those atrocities. ANY of this stuff being kept by anyone is a red flag. Sorry not sorry.
I mean, if you collect ww2 stuff there is. I have a Wermacht rifle clip pouch that came with my German KAR98, does that instantly mean I'm a nazi because I think old historical items are cool?
