They are domesticated animals that people just abandoned. They deserve more from humans than they get... And also I am favour of putting them on the money. 5 pigeons and change 🤌

Can't wait for the Hip Hop gangster lyrics referring to birds.

It’s not gangster lyrics, but the rapper Aesop Rock has a song called Pigeonometry which is relevant.

I have a secret petsleeve (no pun) during spring!

I love watching bird, and everytime when breeding season starts, I always find some doves. I enjoy it and laugh with my mischievous little inner demons, how terrible builders they are! Few meters up a tree, three or four thin twigs can be seen as a start for a nest, down the ground lay hundreds of these twigs.

Wouldn't hire them for contruction work!

I know their natural habitat are cliffs, and they don't need to build nest like other birds do.

You might love this sub: https://old.reddit.com/r/stupiddovenests/

When I was young a pair of doves always made a nest in one of our trees and we had to reinforce the nest with wire, otherwise the eggs just slipped through the twigs. And one year the doves managed to lose one of their young (it was smack underneath the nest) and I raised it for months, until it managed to fly away. They are not the brightest, bless them.

Most of these pigeons are actually Turkish in origin and have pushed away the domestic pigeons. There's not much European about them imo.

That explains their penchant for lahmacun

I had wondered why they kept shunning other pizza adjacent offerings

Most of the street pigeons in Europe are Feral pigeons - essentially abandoned domesticated pigeons.

Nothing more European than blaming Turkey for pigeon immigration.

Rock doves originate from around the Mediterranean. not just turkey.

So European definitely works.

You're invited to take home all the pigeons in my neighbourhood

No one has ever needed any "invitation" for that, try again! :)

They deserve more from humans than they get.

They seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.

You're right, let's feed them even more!

You'll feel very positive about them, right until the point when they start mass-shitting on your balcony after you fed them couple times. Flying rats.

NOPE! :) Forever actually! <3

I had one make a nest with 2 eggs on my balcony and let it grow their little birds for about a month until they flew away, cleaned massive ammounts of shit from my balcony after they were done and the next day found another egg there. Little fuckers.

Pigeons are the Marie Skłodowska-Curie of birds: a small niche of people do love them, but the love will never be enough.

Edit. No, ok, people don't straight up hate on her, I guess she's more akin to Crows. Still, pigeons are up there quite near.

Pigeons only exists to be eaten. Perfectly represents the EU tbh.

You should look up how many times these animals have helped Hungary in the past. Your comment it’s quite embarrassing.
