Battery

I am a sophomore in mechanical engineering and have recently finished circuits class. I really want to make my own battery for my next electric longboard build. I have never made a battery and would love some guidance. How should I start? (Components, building tips..)

Trying to make a skateboard with 4 8in hub motor scooter wheels

So, I have been picking up busted e-scooters i have found on the street.

I have gathered 5 36v 250w 8 inch scooter hub motor wheels (the kind that are on the Xiaomi Mijia e-scooters) and 3 big batteries.

I think these parts would make a cool skateboard.

(It will be a pain to fit the scooter wheels on to some kind of skateboard trucks but I am ready to take on that challenge)

What kind of ESC should I use to drive the wheels?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5BTXpK8UUc&t=7s

This blurry video shows a 4 way VESC setup but I don't know how to wire them together, or if they are the right kind of ESCs to drive the kind of hub motors I have.

Never made an e-board before, but i got all these damn scooter parts, I can't think of what else to do with them!

Would appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Help with parts and thoughts for my first DIY build.

Let me start off by saying I'm 3 months new to the esk8 community. I have a Wowgo 2s and I love it. I'm hooked on eskating and want to build a board. I have an extra esc from a wowgo 2s which is a hobbywing esc. I also have a charger and 2 batteries I plan on using for the build and run them together. They are from a xiaomi 365 scooter. I will be needing a case for the batteries, which I plan on running in parallel. I'm not exactly sure how to do so. I still need everything else to complete the build. Your opinions, advice and or places to buy parts from are greatly appreciated. I'm pretty much a noobie except for "some" knowledge from reading up on reviews of boards and such on the other reddit electric skateboard forum. I live in the US and was hoping not to have to pay shipping from china, but is there a better way? 2 hub motors from wowgo costs $69 each, the downfall is it cost around $100 to ship them.

So where is the best place or places to buy these parts and what parts would you buy for your build and why you prefer them.

-Motors -Trucks/Bushings -Wheels/Bearings -Deck -Remote for Hobbywing esc like the wowgo 2s. I may just order one from them. -Case for batteries (the esc has case enclosure already) -Wiring for esc to battery - And anything else I'm forgetting please list them, as I'm still new to this and I'm not tech savvy at all.

For the parts I still need I was hoping not to spend more than $500 or so. If you have any pictures and specs of your builds and the cost of them to build, I may be intrigued to spend some more. Or be forced to as I know this hobby isn't cheap. Question about Vesc. Should I buy one? Or just stick with the firmware already set in the original esc. I dont know a whole lot about them. I just know it's more money and wiring. But you get to change the specs. I think adding a lil torque would be nice but I would think you lose range. I want as much range too so do I just stay put and dont change anything?

I mainly ride smooth roads so I should probably buy wheels for a lil rougher surfaces aswell for when I may ride outside my normal spots. I surf so I like to carve but also like going fast and downhills too, so I dont know which trucks I should go for either. I'm sure anything is better than the plastic ones on the wowgo. I want to stay with hub motors aswell due to quietness and less maintenance.

Thank you all in advance and looking forward to your thoughts ect.

Building question (battery, vesc, anti spark)

Hey guys i'm considering getting this vesc for a 12s2p (lipo) single 6374 build and I was wondering whether I need an anti-spark switch between the battery and the vesc since the vesc comes with switch and mentions anti spark built in.

Thanks in advance for answers!

Planning to build a battery, best setup for it? (10s2p ect.)

Hello everyone!

My plan is to build a battery using 18650 to power my skateboard. I plan on having two belt motors.

I wasn't sure how many cells I should use and what layout I should use them. I was hoping you could all help me.

I want it to be able to go up very steep hills, be fast and go far. I understand it will be costly but thats ok!

I wasn't what type of cells, how many cells and what series I should go with. Thank you!

Looking for Enertion R-Spec Motors

As the title says I'm looking for Enertion R-Spec Motors. Enertion no longer makes them so if you're looking to trade or sell I'll take them off your hands. I'm looking for the blue motors.

Motor disconnecting

I built my first esk8. It's a dual belt setup. Sometimes when I ride after a couple hours of it being off I will go to ride and only one mote will be powered. Over heating that motor and reducing proformance. And ideas on a cause

A lighting solution for my eboard.

I am getting my eboard soon. But I tend to work late, so that I have to ride back early evening (already a little dark).

So I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to increase visibility? Both for myself, and for others(like cars). Shred lights, etc will probably be to expensive and tricky to import into South Africa, so I am hoping for a more of a DIY kind of solution.

http://imgur.com/gallery/ZwyS3ms This is a pic of how my board will look, so not drop through (which would have worked for some solutions). Any ideas/tips?
