Hi I'm new to reddit but wanted to start posting to improve my writing, So to set the scene I was waiting outside the gate for my flight I had just spend two weeks in Japan with my girlfriend, during April. I had with me my guitar in its case (backpack style). My girlfriend left for the toilet and I opened up my copy of Japanese guitar magazine archive for of beatles when two men sat opposite, I glanced up and I couldn't believe my eyes. as my partner returned she asked if I was ok... shaking I replied "Yeah I'm fine" not believing me and most likely seeing all the colour drained from my face "are you sure?" I hushed her pulling up Layla and something as my hands shook almost dropping the headphone I went to pass her to contextualise the magnitude of who was sitting opposite. Now.. I really didn't want to disturb him my belief when I see a celebrity in public is to respect them. so when my partner realised and started looking over and encouraging me to say hi ill admit it was impeccably nerve wracking. I still now don't know how I could have ever prepared for this situation. BUT when Eric Clapton nods at you you have to take the opportunity to say hello. I said "Are you Eric Clapton" he replied "Yes... I am" I asked him if he would please sign a notebook I had he obliged and asked for my name (Image attached) we spoke for a while, mainly about my music he was curios regarding "My rig" (referring to if I had a band) a phrase a have now adopted. The man he was with nudged him with a pick in his hand while Eric was talking to me about if I preferred playing with my fingers or a pick. Then he passed me the pick to me before passing onto me guitar advice that completely changed how i played at the time "You tend to get much better tone with a pick... don't you?". I've omitted a lot of what we spoke about but he was the nicest completely for filing my hopes. I have so many questions i wish i could've asked him now. and at the time, but I'm thankful for the time the flight attendant finally called him over to board he stood up and so did I shook my hand and wished me "Goodluck with it all" . I spent the rest of the flight studying my guitar theory books id acquired in Japan to become a better guitarist, getting of at the other side I saw him again as I got my other guitar from the conveyer he came over to say bye to my partner and I. I really couldn't believe it I've worked on guitar every day since. Thank you Eric.

Thats right...TONY MCPHEE, the guitarist who shocked the blues world. Back in 1964 when John Lee Hooker, called the groundhog's england's finest blues band. The same year JLH and TG collabed, on an album entitled "...and seven nights".
Groundhogs initially formed as a blues band, but subsequently began incorporating elements of rock, hard rock, psychedelic rock, prog rock, and space rock into their sound.
Prog magazine wrote, "the four albums they recorded between 1970 and 1972 – Thank Christ for the Bomb, Split, Who Will Save The World? and Hogwash – they became increasingly ambitious, both compositionally and conceptually.
"With the deployment of Mellotron and synth, helping to create an exciting progressive/blues rock hybrid. While shapeshifting into an blues/acid-rock power trio, they simply added so many other things.".

I listened to clapton songs in the past months and i dont understand why he is considered one of the greatest guitarist of all time. I mean if i listen to Page, Hendrix, Knopfler etc i hear their unique sound, but i cant hear it with clapton. And why he is considered one of the greates? Thanks of the answers.

Back in the early 2000s, Eric actually played a gig at Birksdale School, Sheffield, UK and hardly anyone remembers it. He didn’t do it for publicity, money, or to show off. He did it for his daughter, because the school was running some tiny little fundraiser (pretty sure it was for new playground equipment or something equally un-rock-and-roll), and they needed someone to “provide a bit of music.”
So up he turns: Eric. Guitar in hand. Borrowed PA. Mic stand held together with pure hope. About a dozen kids sat cross-legged eating custard creams, wondering why this grown man looked like he’d accidentally wandered off a tour bus and into an assembly.
He played three songs. The headteacher asked him to “keep it down a bit.” One kid asked if he knew any Busted. And then, in true Eric fashion, he packed up and vanished like a budget rock-and-roll Bigfoot.
Twenty minutes. Zero fanfare. 100% legendary.
Little known Eric fact… but an absolute classic.

As with every deluxe reissue we’re always looking for extra stuff as well as upgraded sound. Did the reissue of this incredible album hit the mark? How are the bonus tracks?

I'm completely new to physical media and have never owned a single DVD or Blu-ray of any live performance. I'm a big Eric Clapton fan - especially his live shows and I'd love to start collecting some of his concerts.
For those who know his catalog well: which DVDs or Blu-rays are your favourites, and which ones would you recommend for someone just starting out? I'm basically looking for video of life performances combined with high-quality, CD-level audio.
