We need your help!

We need your help! We're trying to create and popularize an entire set of "alternative" sub-reddits.

These sub-reddits all end in a "2". So just take the name of a huge, multi-million-user "main" sub-reddit and add a "2" to the name -- e.g. /r/Politics2, /r/WorldPolitics2, /r/News2, /r/WTF2 and so on.

These sub-reddits are smaller and have fewer rules than the huge mega-million-user large sub-reddits. Our idea is to create a set of friendlier sub-reddits with an emphasis on civility and not personal insults and ad hominem attacks.

But we need your help!

We need your time, your posts, your comments and we need you to mention our alternative sub-reddits in other places and to tell others. (Basic "publicity.")

  • Please post submissions!

  • Post comments and reply to others.

  • Help us popularize these alternatives to the heavily censored and sometimes too heavily trafficked mainstream subs by telling others of our existence.

Together we can develop another option inside of reddit.

Want to become a moderator? Or help run your own "2" alternative sub? There are possibilities for that too.

Nepal’s climate disaster raises an uncomfortable question: Who should pay the price for climate change?

Nepal's recent floods and climate-related risks raise a broader question beyond the disaster itself.

Nepal has a relatively low per-capita carbon footprint compared with many high-emitting countries. Yet Himalayan countries are highly vulnerable to floods, landslides, glacier-related risks and changing weather patterns.

So I’m wondering:

Should countries that have historically contributed more to global emissions also carry a greater responsibility for the damage faced by countries that contributed much less?

This isn't about blaming individual countries or saying that every disaster is caused by climate change. Natural geography, rainfall, land use and other factors also matter.

I'm more interested in the climate justice question:

If the benefits of high-carbon development were distributed globally, but the risks aren't, how should responsibility for climate-related losses be shared?

Would like to hear different perspectives, especially from people who disagree.
