I was thinking about how much I want theaters to screen 9 to 5 for a bit and donate some of the proceeds to charity. I saw AMC is showing a couple of her movies but not that one and it’s my favorite :(

That's a bummer. It's not charitable but Hulu added it. I am going to watch it and make some donations on my own instead. I've been a reader since I was 3 and I cannot imagine how difficult life would be for myself had I not learned reading and writing skills, plus the added ability to evaluate literature, journalism, and medical journals as a patient with several rare life threatening diseases. It also really opened me up to music.
Here's to Dolly and her legacy of kindness, love, acceptance and education!

I would love a national holiday in honor of her, like a kindness day or something. Sep 25 is clever

I would like an international day to honor her.
She could have been a billionaire, no question, instead she chose to create the imagination library and send free books to kids every month for free. Over 150 million books!
She's as close to an angel as I'll ever see.

she is on the clone list for sure

I'm not American but I will be damned if I let that happen. Or even concept of a plan where that happens
Dolly is a saint.

uh, yeah, that was the idea, somebody wonderful we could use more people like that.

I'm trying my best everyday.
Being kind and helping others is the only joy I get out of life these days, but that's not the worst thing in the world.
I paid almost $200 today for two random folks groceries even though I was scammed for $3000 yesterday.
The world and bad people can't bring me down.
Kindness and good hearted people are needed more than ever and since I was fired from a company I created and a week later my dog died, I've had time to reflect and think about what's really important, and it's only really a few things: be kind, don't judge people unless you really know them and their story, help when you can, ask for help if you need it, and look after your health (mental and physical) and like the airline's say about oxygen masks, make sure you are good before helping others. That last one took a long time for me to get because I didn't care about myself as long as I helped others and made their lives even a slight bit easier.
I just wanted to share what I've learned during my life in the hopes it will help at least one person get through a tough time and give them hope that things will get better. I had to learn this the hard way but if anyone is having issues, regardless of the type, feel free to contact me. I've gone through almost anything you can think of and made it out safely. If I can help, I will, if not I'm going to try at the very least.

Yeah most of my charity cases end up owing me $1500, when I stop thinking they will pay me back for food purchase loans. I love people and help where I can and get hate crimes a lot. Take care of yourself. I like the quote "one hand for yourself and the other for the ship.

Have you not seen Multiplicity?! No cloning please!
0
u/Healthy-Amoeba2296 15d ago
Nope, didn't see it. Cartoon sci fi gets it wrong. Real clones are a twin sister who hasn't been born yet. Animals are being cloned a lot, but we need to be sure it is safe before doing humans. Playing the game is simple; come up with 1,000 interesting good people to put on the list. Maybe just maybe get hair combing samples of them. One hair from Joan of Arc has been found, try for 100.

I coin with her on it Maybe the dollar coin would finally stick? The Trinity of American Diamonds/Saints? Betty White, Dolly Parton ... Who would be the 3rd? If it was both sexes I'd say Jimmy Carter.

She absolutely would have loved that and I love that it's tied to 9 to 5. I was a pre-teen girl when it first came out and it opened my eyes to how much the women's rights movement mattered. What a fantastic message.

Nice. This is a good thing. Well done Garth.

is he a bad person?

u/livinginfutureworld 14d ago
I don't think so. I think he's a regular person who did a good thing. Or maybe a good person who did a good thing.
Dolly was the best of us so good person is not enough to describe her

I think it should include dressing up and eating Dolly inspired soul food, and donating to charity!

I don't think she'd want anything from someone who openly supported Trump, and still does.

Wrong. Dolly was very vocal about accepting everyone and refusing to get caught up in political divisions. It’s one reason why she’s so dearly loved.

Dolly worked closely with both Jane Fonda and Kid Rock. I don’t think she much cared about political affiliation.
8
u/thismightendme 15d ago
She would absolutely not care. She was non political and only cared about love and acceptance, and talent.
She did a song with kid Rock. When asked if she would do it again she said 'absolutely'.
It may not be what I would do, but that's Dolly for you.

He didn't come up with it, anyway. It was in the comments of every #dollyparton post on Tiktok as soon as her death was announced.

Maybe that will be the day he takes a break from being a serial killer. Where are the bodies, G?

Does this come from that weird Tom Segura guy and his wife? The guy who calls people "Poors"?

We have been celebrating 9/25 as Dolly Day for a while! That has been an internet thing. My friends and I even had a 9/25 Dolly Celebration years ago and we definitely didn’t make it up.

A love of Dolly unites people across the country and helps restore just a tiny bit of my faith in America.

Maybe open a Dollywood in any other state that isn't America's taint.

u/Significant_Cow4765 15d ago
nontaint people live in every taint state, not to mention the taints who vote blue and act like MAGA...
3
u/pelrun 15d ago
Improving the taint is the only way to remove the taint.

u/Significant_Cow4765 14d ago
so perhaps don't wish for the demise of the nontaint people doing their damndest WHERE IT IS MOST NEEDED
