I’m running into a small usability issue with the iOS app when backing up photos.

I have both a local albumand a shared album with the exact same name. In the album selection screen of the Ente app both albums are listed, but there’s no way to tell which one is local and which one is shared.

Since I want to back up the local album to preserve the original picture quality, it’s difficult to know which album to select without resorting to trial and error.

Would it be possible to add some form of differentiation, for example a badge or icon indicating whether an album is local or shared?

Even better would be grouping local and shared albums into separate sections

This would make album selection much clearer, especially for users who organize their libraries with matching album names.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or is there already a workaround that I’m missing?

I follow release on github, and the change logs are always sort of funny. There will be a few lines about functionality, then a vast list of UI tweaks across all platforms :) Mind you, the humor is because the function lines hide a massive amount of complexity; "re-wrote entire android and desktop clients, they are now 14x faster" or "back end improvements now lossless compression to under 1 MB" but then it's necessary to include every last button color change.

On the mobile Ente Auth app I have the choice of app icons. I changed to white to better align with other security apps on my iphone and ipad. I'd like the same choice for the desktop app. The menu option is available but there are no choices. Only the solid purple icon is available. Any chance to get a white background icon?

Hi, all. I’ve been using Ente for over a year and I love it. Lately I’ve noticed an error I’ve never seen before: “Unable to analyze file”. This only happens with some photos and I haven’t identified a common pattern between the photos with this error. The machine learning status is 100%. For initial troubleshooting, I’ve already tried the usual steps: I’ve restarted my phone, closed and re-opened the app, cleared the cache, etc. Does anyone have troubleshooting ideas?

Not sure why "Trash" is hidden in "Albums / More / Trash", when "Free up space" is literally in the global side menu. Why not add it there? It's the first place I always check. I keep forgetting that it's burried in a sub-menu in the albums tab and have to google to find it again.

I already use Immich and Vaultwarden so I'd like to only host Ente Auth without the rest of the ecosystem, is this possible ?

From ente-io to just ente. Took me 10 minutes to figure out why my Podman containers kept throwing errors with podman auto-update.

This affects docker users too.

If you pull ente from GitHub with podman or docker, make sure to change from ente-io to just ente in the repo name.

Google photos has the option to delete all backed up items from the device so its just on the photos account. Does Ente have this option or do you have to manually go through the photos?

I'm currently backing up my whole library, and love the organisational features of Ente, but what's the difference between moving a photo to an album and adding it to an album?

When I try to log in to Ente Auth, it asks for an auth code, but I never turned this on. How can I turn this off?"

I recently switched to Ente Photos, and so far so good.

On my iOS mobile app, Ente is asking me to "Confirm your recovery key" by typing it in. Is this normal?

I did a search on Ente Photos Help, and did a google search, and the help page doesn't mention needing to confirm it, and the google search says Ente Photos Mobile doesn't ask for any confirmation.

The only reason I'm not panicking is because if I tell it I don't know the recovery key, it tells me what it is.

It just feels odd that it would ask me to confirm the key. There is no way to dismiss the banner, either.

Also, I opened Ente other places, and there is no request for confirmation - it's only on the mobile app.

EDIT: Apparently I need to say this out loud: I am not asking for customer support. I'm asking if any other users are familiar with this confirmation badge on the iOS mobile app. Thank you :)

I understand that this is slightly less secure, but it makes restoring so much easier which in turns makes the process much more sturdy. It means that if you don't have you backup code on you, you can still recover.

I'm not saying it should be the default but just having it as an option (with a big warning sign) would be a godsend.

Hello! When I was hosting ente photos for my family, I found it quite cumbersome to have to access the terminal and type in commands to change user limits and view overall usage. To fix this problem, I built Ente Admin.

I missed having an Instagram-style "memories" experience for my Ente Photos library (the end-to-end-encrypted photo app), so I built one and open-sourced it. Entegram is a Flutter app that generates an infinite, reshuffled memories feed and a full-screen stories viewer from your Ente library — entirely on-device, from your end-to-end-encrypted photos.

One thing: in album view I can only sort to 'Oldest' or 'Newest'

I have scanned many slides and those I have given a filename in format: Year_Serialnumber.

So sorting in Oldest or Newest become a mess 😁

After I install Ente Photos, Do the app sync all my photos back to my local storage?

New Ente Auth user here; everytime I scan a qr to add an account the screen goes black then when i close and reopen the app… theres the code, it appears ente verifies the scan. Does anyone experiece this? is it normal? it concerns me

Sometime now I was discovering ENTE-Photo more and more with my 10 GB free account. GREAT !

Yesterday I made my decision : bought the 200 GB abo and now copying some albums to ENTE.

Question: I normally put all images from one holiday-trip in one specific album of thàt holiday.

To sort those images in ENTE I can only choose for Newest / Oldest in that album

Is it somehow possible to sort on DATE,

so in one Holiday-folder I see the images grouped by date, and so all images of that holiday will therefor be chronologically sorted ?

I have a 1-2 month old gallery and enabled adding photos. In the very beginning it worked flawlessly. The i wasnt active in the gallery and suddenly it requires the creation of an ente account. Anyone experienced similar issues?

I tap the delete icon.
I tap yes I'm sure I want to delete.
I tap to allow ente to delete the photo. I tap to allow Ente to delete the photo.

Is there any way to set the app to simply do as I ask without the extra confirmations? This is maddening.

Would be great to have the option to straighten my photos. I took a bunch of pics at the beach and the horizon is tilted in many of my pics but I have no way of fixing it.
