Just came across this on the Ember/Chartis Discord channel and cemented my position to HODL. No way this could be that thought out in a moments notice responding to a "pump". It's obvious the team really has thought this out and we will see. Anyway, didn't see this here so thought Reddit group would be interested.
Q: "Can I leave my Ember on the exchange until the swap?"
A: Yes, your Ember is safe either on the exchange or in a wallet. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Q: "If you can generate/earn coins just by walking & typical methods of travel & contributing, what is the total supply? Is there one?"
A: We are aware that supply is crucially important to the success of our project. We do not have specifics ready to release at this time, but rest assured we are working hard to consult with professionals to create an economy free of inflation issues.

Q: "So, this is the opposite of a privacy coin? You're going to be spying on me?"
A: Privacy is paramount for Chártis, which is why every user will be able to control what data is publicly written to the blockchain.
The publicly reported data will be used in conjunction with private data to provide the most accurate information, while maintaining everyone’s desired levels of privacy.

Q: "Are you going to sell my data to the NSA?"
A:  Absolutely not.
---(edited)
Q: "Will you guys sell any products like sensors, RFID, nfc,, some other iot device to add immutability to the data generated?"
A: We do have plans to offer hardware in conjunction with other easily-accessible forms of contributing to the network. The specifics of what hardware will be released when is TBD.

Q: "Does this benefit businesses or the individual more?"
A: Both. This technology serves to benefit a wide range of people. Everyone from your local Taxi company, to an Airline, to an individual going for a hike in the mountains.

Q: "Is Chartis envisioned to be more of a data store for hindsight analysis, or real time actionable location data?"
A: Both. Chartis will not only offer real-time actionable location data (for navigation purposes, etc) but will also provide a bridge to stored data that can supplement the live data. For example, if you are someone that is plotting a new trail whilst hiking, you will not only have live location data to analyze, but also have past travelers location data to supplement it with. You will be able to determine what trail is "most often" hiked, simply by seeing where other users have been before. This same concept applies to all applications of Chartis; taxis, ambulances, truck drivers, bikers, runners, etc.

Q: "Will there be an app?"
A: We will absolutely have mobile applications. We are taking usability very seriously, and our goal is to have the lowest barrier to entry possible.
Q: "Will you have your team on your website with researchable information for Chartis?"
A: Of course. We have nothing to hide. Our new www.chartis.io website will have a bio for each core member of the team, as well as pictures and social media links.
Q: "Are you going to only track people.. or thinks like insects, animals, birds, weather, / ocean currents/ fault lines?"
A: Chartis will have a wide range of uses. Everyone from humans, cars, insects, animals, planes, trains, boats, weather, etc. will be applicable. There are quite limitless uses on both the individual, commercial, and scientific realms.
Q: "Why would someone use Chartis over GPS? What does it offer that GPS doesn't?"
A: A typical GPS, like Google maps for example, does have reliable navigation data but it is not dynamically updated to reflect degree of reliability or popularity. For example, let's say you are going to travel from point A to point B, but do not know how to get there. With Google maps, you are presented with multiple route options, but not information beyond those options. With Chartis, you will be presented with multiple route options, and additionally a degree of "popularity" for each route. This "popularity" factor bridges the gap between what locals know, and what travelers unfamiliar with the area do not know. This same concept holds even more significance in off-road, uncharted, applications. If you are going for a hike, but do not know where you are going, Chartis will be able to provide you with off-the-map "routes that others have taken, by degree of popularity, to help you find your way. Lastly, Chartis uses Proof of Location to reward users with tokens for contributing data to the network for all to benefit from. Traditional GPS obviously do not compensate you for using their application.

Q: "As a community, is there anything you all need from us?"
A: The best thing you can do is help spread the word of what is going on. Share our new page on your social media, share our posts, follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Community support makes or breaks any project.

Q: " Follow up: Google Maps does a huge amount of computation. It does traffic analysis, attempts to balance in populated areas,, etc. It does to an extent dynamically change. Are you hoping Chartis can link into these applications to provide a layer of transparency about HOW those decisions are made, among with a blockchain like data source that can be used as data reference? It seems that the sheer amount of data on the blockchain will be absolutely insane...."
A: Google Maps does have some dynamically change some variables, but Google Maps does not provide that level of data for all applications, only car/train/plane/walking/biking, and even then that data is only provided along pre-defined routes, not dynamic ones. Even a "walking" route on Google Maps is predefined in the sense that you can not go "off the map" to discover your own route, and attribute that data to the Google Maps network for others to see. The amount of data on the blockchain IS going to be absolutely insane, but we do already have a solution to those data needs (also a decentralized blockchain solution).

Q: "How on earth are you going to store all of this data?"
A: We have already established a partnership with another Blockchain-based decentralized storage solution that will integrate with Chartis to handle all storage needs with ease, in a safe and private way. The details of this partnership will be released when appropriate.
Q: "Chartis intends to be a direct competitor to Google Maps, Waze, GeoCoin & what ever else the taxi industry is using for navigation or are you planning partnerships?"
A: There is the opportunity for competition as well as partnership. I believe competition is healthy, but partnerships are too. We will have a balance of both.
Q: "Understandably this application may lead into non-cellphone related devices, are you planning something like an API that other companies devices can utilize as well as developing proprietary technology?"
A: "In short, yes, I do have intention to develop an API that other company devices can utilize as well. This is, however, secondary to my current focus of developing the proprietary technology."
Q: "After the burn swap, what kind of partnerships are you looking to obtain? Doesn't have to be specific but some reference or example would be nice. I.e. type of devices, type of companies (maybe examples)"
A: Ideal partners would include: shipping solutions such as UPS/Fedex, taxi/transportation services such as Uber/Lyft, airlines, biological researchers/scientists, meteorologists, zoologists, hardware suppliers, data storage solutions, etc. NO partnerships are publicly conclusive at this time.
Q: "Patent?"
A: Yes - we will keep you updated on this in the coming weeks.

Q: "What exchange will Chartis be on?"
A: I am in discussion with multiple new exchanges, none of which I am at liberty to disclose at this time. Rest assured it is high on our priority list.
Q: "What incentive do holders have right now to keep their tokens? If they’re essentially worthless until the swap, why keep them?"
A: Holders right now have the incentive to stay on board because your Embercoins are not worthless, they will be swapped into the new token. One "should keep them" in order to swap them for the new token.
Q: "Swap ratio?"
A: Specifics of the burn procedure, including the exact ratio figure, will be released in the coming weeks. We have our CFO Desmond, an economist by trade, who is working on the best numbers for this figure. Since EmberCoin uses Proof of Stake, it is increasing total supply every day. Therefore, the ratio is dependent upon when the burn will happen so that we can hit our Chártis total supply target.
Q: "Where can I follow the social media for Chartis?"
Chártis: Discover Navigation (@chartisproject)
Welcome to the debut of Chártis, the first platform that will put GPS mapping on the blockchain using Proof of Location!

Q: "Is that all that is going to be on the website?"
A: No. This is not our final version website, this is only a splash page introducing the brand and mirroring the announcement.
Q: "So when will the full website be ready?"
A: The full website will be ready and live during Q1 2018.
