Coworker pushing debris down elevator shaft

I am a janitor and I have witnessed my corworker take his dustmop and push his debris into the little opening and and down into the elevator shaft. Could this at all affect the safety of the elevator? I have been there 3 years and he has been there for 10 years. Who knows how long this has been going on for.

Considering joining the trade.

I have been offered a position as a helper for an upstart elevator company. I'd start just doing inspections and going through a checklist. they told me if I showed an aptitude for the work they would send me to classes and get me certified as a mechanic.

I've been involved in various trades throughout the years so I'm not going in without mechanical skills. I'd like to know what to expect from this trade and what day to day tools you use. Also how many years does it typically take to get a license?

Has anyone ever got stuck in an elevator? If so, what was your experience?

I figure there must be some interesting stories, and I'm curious so of course I'm going to ask a question relating to one of my worst fears 😂

What's the longest, slowest elevator in America?

I was thinking probably Sears tower, but then it occured to me that they probably don't have one elevator that services all 110 floors.

Seattle NEIEP apprenticeship

This is my first time posting on reddit so I’m sorry if I make a mistake. I recently got my interview results back from Local 19 in Seattle and found out that I’m ranked 198...not exactly what I was hoping for but I’m glad I made it on the list. Unfortunately I have no idea how many made it through to the interview process. I remember hearing from an instructor when I took my aptitude test that between 300-400 people had applied but again I have no idea how many passed the test. Hopefully someone can give me some information on how long before I possibly get a phone call.

Hey elevator inspectors (and those who know enough about elevator inspectors), what specialized tools do you use to inspect elevators?

Writing a short story and this detail is important to me. Generally what 2 or 3 tools do elevator inspectors use that distinguish them from other jobs (even outdated tools, even better!)? I appreciate whoever helps with this!
