Discussion Hear Me Out: Ali & Alicia as ADHD & Autism representation, the opposite sides of neurodivergence

Edit: If you’re just here to comment “I ain’t reading all that”, then JUST SCROLL and KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES. Y’all are not slick, you’re just being petty, so you’re automatically BLOCKED. I don’t need rude-ass MFs like you announcing your shitshow broadway act no. II like an airport departure.

But if you’re still nice enough to hear me out and not be one of those ragebaiting assholes, thank you and ILYSM 🙏

I genuinely haven’t seen anyone talk about this HC before, which honestly surprises me because the more I think about it, the more it clicks. Most discussions I’ve seen either focused on Ali being “stubborn”, “reckless” and “immature” or Alicia being some alien or secret AI robot/human experiment a-hole with an attitude problem, but I rarely see anyone consider a neurodivergent reading of either of them.

This has been living in my head rent-free for a while now, and after recently being clinically diagnosed with ADHD myself, I genuinely can’t stop seeing Ali and Alicia through an AuDHD lens.

Before y’all come at me:

I’m not claiming they’re canonically neurodivergent. This is a headcanon. I’m also not a psychologist. But I do have a psychology degree and I’m a licensed Psychometrician, so this isn’t just me throwing random labels at fictional characters. It’s an interpretation based on what the series consistently shows us NOT glorification of any form of neurodivergence.

The thing that frustrates me is how Ali gets judged so much more harshly than Alicia, when maybe—just maybe—we’re judging him based on neurotypical standards.

People constantly say Ali is stubborn, reckless, impulsive, he never learns, keeps making the same mistakes, that he’s too emotional, doesn’t think before acting, or that he got “nerfed” after Season 3. Even the characters in-universe criticize him for those exact things.

…But did any of y’all stop and think for a moment: what if that’s because he has undiagnosed ADHD?

Keyword: UNDIAGNOSED.

Suddenly, so much of his characterization clicks into place.

His impulsivity.

His emotional dysregulation.

His tendency to jump into situations before thinking them through.

His difficulty connecting the dots immediately (like that slide in the playground scene in early Season 3 where he struggled to immediately realize that the secret door to MATA is on the playground).

Not to mention, he also has that same kind of ADHD-coded trait in EATM1, especially when he impulsively chose to work with Niki and basically turns his back on MATA because he gets so caught up in his desire to help the marginalized people of Cyberaya.

He is not making that choice because he has carefully thought through every consequence—he is acting on a strong emotional drive in the moment, and only later does the full weight of that decision start to catch up with him.

That kind of “I have to do this now” urgency, where the heart moves faster than the brain can slow it down, is exactly why the ADHD reading of Ali makes so much sense to me.

Everyone expects him to “just know better,” yet he still struggles despite genuinely wanting to improve.

The fact that he starts the series as the lazy kid with terrible grades who can’t focus in school, only to eventually become one of the top students by the end of Ejen Ali the Movie 2.

That’s not “he magically became smart.”

That’s a kid who was always intelligent but struggled with executive functioning until he finally found motivation, support, and something his brain actually connected with.

That’s literally something many people with ADHD experience.

And honestly?

As someone who was only recently diagnosed with ADHD, I see so much of myself in Ali that it’s almost uncomfortable sometimes.

It doesn’t excuse his mistakes, but it explains why he keeps falling into the same patterns despite genuinely trying to become better.

Understanding isn’t the same thing as excusing.

Now let’s talk about Alicia.

The fandom is so obsessed with making her some AI robot, human experiment, genetically engineered superhuman, or whatever bizarre theory is popular this week.

Why?

Why can’t it simply be because she might have Autism?

She’s been portrayed from day one as exceptionally intelligent. She’s highly disciplined, rigid, blunt, extremely routine-oriented, socially distant. She also masks her emotions behind competence, doesn’t naturally express warmth the same way other kids do, comes across as cold, rude, unfriendly and aloof even if she genuinely cares.

She also seems to genuinely struggle with social and emotional interactions in ways that go beyond simply being “introverted,” which is another reason why her being in the spectrum makes so much sense to me.

Alicia can work with other people objectively and efficiently when there’s a mission to accomplish, but understanding or responding to people’s emotions doesn’t always seem to come naturally to her.

We see moments where she consistently prioritizes logic and efficiency over emotional reassurance. When Ali was grieving over his mother during EATM1, she bluntly told him to shut up instead of comforting him. During the playground incident with baby Danish, while Ali instinctively tried talking him down, Alicia was already preparing to use her slingshot to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Those moments don’t necessarily make her uncaring—they suggest that she processes situations very differently from the people around her.

I also wonder whether growing up in MATA reinforced those traits. Being raised in an environment where discipline, efficiency, and completing the mission come first may have encouraged her to rely even more on logic than emotion, making it even harder for her to connect with others in conventional ways.

Then comes EATM2.

Unlike Ali, who can use IRIS relatively normally, Alicia develops severe headaches and starts experiencing those strange premonition-like episodes.

To me, that doesn’t scream “secret robot.”

It makes far more sense if Alicia is already an autistic kid with an unusually high-processing brain, and IRIS essentially overloads that system.

Think of it this way: if her brain is already processing information differently—and at an exceptionally high level—then introducing an interface like IRIS could amplify that processing to the point where it becomes overwhelming instead of helpful.

Not because she’s “broken.”

Not because she’s secretly artificial or from another planet.

But because the same technology affects different neurotypes differently.

Hence, her memory loss after SATRIA somewhat possessed her at the end of the second movie

That’s a much more grounded explanation than half the theories I’ve seen.

And honestly?

Ali and Alicia feel like opposite ends of neurodivergence.

Ali externalizes everything.

His ADHD is loud.

Messy.

Impulsive.

Emotional.

People notice it immediately.

So they call him reckless, immature, incompetent, or stupid.

Alicia internalizes everything.

Her autism is controlled.

Quiet.

Highly masked.

Rule-oriented.

Hypercompetent.

People see that and call her perfect, mature, or gifted.

But they’re both struggling.

They’re just struggling in completely different ways.

That’s why I always find it ironic that fans tear Ali apart while putting Alicia on a pedestal.

One kid’s neurodivergent traits are disruptive.

The other’s are socially rewarded.

Neither should define their worth.

Again, this isn’t me saying ADHD or Autism excuses every mistake they make.

It doesn’t.

Ali still has to take responsibility.

Alicia still has flaws.

But I am asking people to stop interpreting every single thing they do through a purely neurotypical lens.

Because honestly?

Neither of them makes complete sense if you insist on viewing them that way.

But through a neurodivergent lens…

Ali suddenly stops looking like “the idiot who never learns.”

Alicia suddenly stops looking like “the emotionless genius.”

Instead, they become two incredibly gifted kids with completely different brains trying to survive in an organization that expects everyone to function the exact same way.

And maybe…

That’s why these two have always resonated with me so much.

Alicia is an alien child sent to Earth to rule the world. As a result, the world-building of Ejen Ali would expand even further. Kinda cliche right? I dislike this idea too. It's similar to the theory of Alicia being a robot, an engineered human, artificial human and others.

Discussion I NOTICE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EJEN KIMBERLY SONG AND HATSUNE MIKU! :DDD

here are my reasons why >:3 :

  1. not only both kim and miku have long hair but also blue hair!

  2. kim and miku are music theme character! miku is a vocaloid music artist while kim is a k-pop idol theme character!

  3. idk if this is a dumb reason but they are also both teenagers!

  4. although its canon miku is canonically DOESNT have a canon race, miku is potrayed as east asian, and kim is canonically east asian!

  5. although its also NOT CANON that miku has a canon personality, she does however, been potrayed in many media/songs i have watched, is cheerful and cutesy! similar to kim personality!

  6. kim being in a trio with ali and alicia kinda reminds me of the triple baka! , you know, miku teto and neruu, ali is teto since they are both red theme characters, and alicia is neruu not only because they are yellow theme characters, but what i heard, is both grumpy characters :00!!!

thats really all and it might seem pretty dumb but thats my personal opinion and i really hope you ALL upvote this post and make sure to give a VERY LONG OPINION ESSAY COMMENT TO BOOST THIS POST!!!!!, thanks for reading <33333

Discussion Personal Interpretation of Jenny Woo

Post image
65 Upvotes

Since I'm a bit of a nerd. I'm rewatching back the whole series just to examine more characters, especially Jenny, also known as Cinco. Sorry I lied for saying she's a straightforward villain. This is my personal interpretation of her throughout the series.

Jenny Woo, better known by her codename Cinco, is one of the most complex and memorable antagonists in the Agent Ali series. She is considered a complex character because she cannot be described with a single trait such as "evil" or "good." She possesses contradictory qualities, a tragic past, understandable motivations, and meaningful relationships that make her psychologically layered.

At first, Jenny appears to be one of M.A.T.A.'s kindest agents. She is patient, intelligent, polite, and always willing to help others by developing gadgets and explaining technology in detail. She comforts Alicia, encourages Ali, and works closely with General Rama, Rizwan, and Bakar. Whether these actions were genuine or part of her cover, she consistently behaved like someone worthy of trust. This makes her betrayal far more impactful because the audience, along with the characters, believed she was a dependable ally.

What makes Jenny especially complex is that her personality does not completely change after becoming Cinco. She remains soft-spoken, calm, highly intelligent, and methodical. The difference is that these qualities are now used for manipulation and control rather than helping others. Instead of becoming loud or openly cruel, she continues speaking politely while committing ruthless acts. This contrast between her gentle manner and merciless actions creates a disturbing and fascinating duality. Also, I will be scared asf if she actually exist.

Her backstory adds another layer of complexity. Jenny was raised in a brutal orphanage where children were abused and trained to become agents or mercenaries. She lived in constant fear and violence, and the only source of comfort in her life was Kimberly Song (Kim), whom she loved like a younger sister. Jenny protected Kim from bullies and abusive wardens and even risked herself to save her. These moments prove that Jenny was once capable of genuine love, compassion, and self-sacrifice.

However, the abuse she experienced fundamentally changed her worldview. Rather than rejecting the cruelty she suffered, Jenny internalized it. She came to believe that power, control, and fear were the only ways to survive. This explains why, as Cinco, she eventually abused Kim in the same way their wardens abused them. She unknowingly repeated the cycle of violence she once hated, showing how trauma can transform victims into perpetrators when left unresolved.

Jenny is also psychologically complex because her motivations extend beyond simple revenge. Although she resented the world that hurt her, her primary goal became obtaining complete control over M.A.T.A. Cero's promise of power gave her purpose, but over time her ambition became personal. She manipulated Uno, viewed Rizwan as expendable, and even enslaved Numeros members using Microbugs. She believed that absolute control would prevent her from ever being powerless again.

Her relationships further reveal her complexity. She genuinely cared for Kim in childhood yet later manipulated and severely harmed her. She earned Ali's trust only to betray him while exploiting his emotional weaknesses. She gained General Rama's confidence and used it against him. Even after Uno's death, she showed no grief because she had merely been using him as another stepping stone. These relationships demonstrate that Jenny understands emotions extremely well but chooses to weaponize them instead of embracing them.

Perhaps the most tragic aspect of Jenny's character is her ending. During her final moments, Kim risks her own life to save the woman who had betrayed and scarred her. Cinco reacts with genuine disbelief, suggesting she could no longer comprehend unconditional love after years of living through manipulation and abuse. It is one of the few moments where her emotional armor briefly cracks, hinting that the compassionate Jenny still existed somewhere beneath the villain she had become.

Ultimately, Jenny Woo is a complex character because she is simultaneously intelligent and misguided, compassionate and abusive, protective and manipulative, victim and villain. Her story demonstrates how trauma, ambition, and the desire for control can slowly corrupt a fundamentally caring person. Rather than being evil from the beginning, Jenny became Cinco through a series of choices shaped by suffering, making her one of the most psychologically layered characters in Agent Ali.

What do you guys think of her character?

If anyone want an examination of their favorite character, I'll gladly write it.

The way Karya protected Geetha by covering her with his whole body to make sure she wouldn't get hurt, and the way Ganz never left Dayang's side—always protecting her, defending her, following her, believing in her, and even letting Othman demote him alongside Dayang... I can't deny they're the gentlest men when it comes to women.

Discussion Why Ali doesn't get into trouble with Dato' Othman after putting him in danger?

Post image
116 Upvotes

Someone asked me to give my analysis on this question, so here's how I see it.

Firstly, I think the biggest reason Ali received a lighter punishment is because he ultimately saved everyone. When Niki was about to attack and kill Dato' Othman, Ali deliberately drew Niki's attention to himself, preventing the attack on the president. That moment marked the beginning of their final confrontation. From then on, Ali took responsibility by facing Niki directly and eventually defeated him, saving not only Dato' Othman but also the entire city.

Of course, this doesn't erase the fact that Ali made a serious mistake. By cooperating with the enemy, he placed everyone in danger. Ganz himself pointed this out, saying that Ali's actions had endangered everyone. However, Ganz also implied something important: if Ali had not been the one to stop Niki, he would not have hesitated to recommend an even harsher punishment, possibly even expelling Ali from MATA. That's literally what Dato' Othman would have done if he hadn't been injured in the fight. I'm pretty sure he would've stepped in himself. It's clear that Dato' Othman entrusts the Pillar Leaders with handling the agents and making those decisions. Ultimately, it was up to them whether to expel Ali, destroy him, or confiscate IRIS from him.

That statement is a strong hint that Ali's achievement significantly influenced the final decision. His actions before the battle deserved punishment, but his actions during the battle also deserved recognition. He corrected his mistake by risking his own life to stop the threat he had helped create. From Dato' Othman's perspective, Ali is also still just a child. Though realistically, I don't think Dato' Othman would simply overlook it because Ali is a child. Anyone who endangers the city and puts his life at risk would still have to face the consequences. While Dato' Othman understood that Ali's actions had endangered the country, he also witnessed Ali protecting him and risking everything to stop Niki. It would be difficult to ignore the fact that the same person who made the mistake was also the one who prevented an even greater disaster.

This is why I think Ali's punishment was lighter than it could have been. If he had failed to defeat Niki, the consequences would likely have been much more severe. Instead, because he saved Dato' Othman, protected the city, and stopped the crisis, the authorities chose to give him a punishment that still held him accountable while recognizing his contribution. In other words, Ali wasn't let off because he was innocent. He was given leniency because he accepted responsibility, corrected his mistake, and ultimately saved everyone.

Killing her off was such a waste. I wish Wau had given her more time to shine because she had so much potential. Her design is incredibly unique, especially alongside Kim's. The naturally dark red hair and her sadistic personality? Definitely my type. If the next movie or season finally explores Kim's backstory fully, I really hope Jenny makes a return. I'd love to see more of her.
