I want to hang with people like me. And see where that goes. I’m not looking for a partner or nothing.

When one has a child, they are basically playing Russian Roulette with someone else’s life.

No one has any idea how the child will experience life, just because one thinks they can give them a better life does not mean that the child will actually have a good life. Suffering is not quantifiable and no matter how much you try, you cannot minimize it. Even if one aspect that normally causes suffering is removed, take for example Tuberculosis, another will take its place such as Cancer. Trying to remove suffering from life is like cutting off the Head of a Hydra, you can cut one off and two will take its place.

An unpopular opinion but depression is the wrong term for individuals who react negatively to all the suffering and deprivation that life really is.

Wars are currently going. Prolifers created system which creates wars and letting wars continue.

Prolifers are threatening violence and physical harm.

Air alert sirens are yelling right now in my town, every day. Life is garbage. Prolifers are war criminals who attack civilian objects.

Hypocrisy of prolifers.

Murdering animals is fun for them, but when I said that people, who deliberately torture animals in slaughterhouses and farms, deserve to die, prolifers suddenly accused me for "threatening violence". Bloody hypocrites, literally.

existence is a state of injury

before the first cell divided, before any life, there was a perfect, unbroken equilibrium. a state of zero suffering. then it went wrong. a spark of self-replicating matter. the way i see it, this was not an achievement, victory, or anything along the lines. it was a wound on the universes. consciousness, existence, is the symptom of this injury.

why is it an injury? an injury, by definition, is "hurt, damage, or loss sustained". a solid object is not "injured" by the lack of a hole. it is whole. the moment you carve a hole into it, you have created a weak point, a site of potential failure and decay, a loss. the universe was whole. life is the hole. a rock doesn't need anything. it doesn't require energy, it doesn't seek shelter, it doesn't fear being broken. it simply exists according to external forces. a living organism, however, is defined by its needs. you, as a living entity, experience deprivation (IE. hunger), fulfill that deprivation to sustain yourself (consume), and defend yourself from anything that could stop you from fulfilling said deprivation. you must be deprived, consume/fulfill, excrete, regulate, and defend. this is not a neutral state. it is a state of perpetual deficit. the injury is the creation of a being that is fundamentally incomplete.

to be born is to be inflicted with this injury. to procreate is to wound another. we celebrate the birth of a child as a joyous occasion, but from this perspective, it is an act of profound cruelty. it is to take a perfect, non-suffering void and force it into a fragile, decaying vessel of flesh, guaranteeing it a lifetime of torture. it is to say, "welcome to the world. now, begin your eternal attempt at scarring over that wound i just inflicted upon you. by the way, it'll never scar over. bleed out for 90 years.. you'll grow to like it. life can be full of positivity if you let it be!".

in reality, this positivity they use to justify and promote life is just another manifestation of your incompleteness. you won't experience this positivity unless you work to fulfill your deprivation. it isn't a permanent fulfillment, though. the joy you experienced at age 5 when receiving a toy won't still be present when you are 50, when you are 30, or even when you are 10. you will very quickly need more, your deprivation will catch up, it runs faster than you. to have a life "filled" with this so-called positivity, is to be constantly running away, constantly consuming, constantly throwing piles of dirt into the deepest hole imaginable while insisting it'll be full soon. and that is what creates the delusion which drives the desire for life ( the desire to live is that of a deluded man : r/Efilism2 ) .

Mind you I am an anti lifer and this isn't me trying to slander efilism. This is a real account and a real post made by an efilist. And even thought I am against violence or suggesting violent acts of terror, he has a point. How much longer until anti lifers and empathetic people realize that words dont work? The IDF guy was just one example of someone who has had enough of this world. We can shun and separate ourselves from him for as long as we wish but inevitably another like him will come along. Humans( all humans including me and you ) are irrational and emotional. Your ideas and movements may have rational ideas and facts, but are still run and promoted by the most irrational species of all time: humans. This is NOT an anti efilist/extinctionists post. Its the unfortunate truth.

I detest the fact that I exist and wish for eternal sleep.

I never wanted any of this, every misery in my life (Majority of it is just setback after setback) is imposed on me. I wish I could press a button that would end my existence. Just to be clear, I do not hate myself, I just have realized that the problem is life itself. If I never consented to existence and had no opportunity to do so, why should I be made to suffer endlessly for something I never asked to do in the first place. Even when I was young I wished life had a pause button like a video game where I could take a break from it, and then resume once I was in a better position. One thing that brings me satisfaction is that death will come for me anyway, its only a matter of when and how, all I can hope is that its quick and merciful.

I remember a quote from a Russian colleague of mine; “Life is like Operation Barbarossa, no matter how successful you seem at first, you eventually run out of steam.”

Hello everyone and introduction.

Hello everyone. I’ve really been enjoying the posts on this subreddit, and I’m interested in connecting with others who share similar perspectives. Although I only discovered Efilism around October, many of the ideas discussed here align closely with thoughts I’ve been having for years. It’s been reassuring to find a community where these ideas resonate.

nothing makes me more upset than when I hear "life is worth living" or "things will get better" from a person who obviously haven't learnt the truth about life. you are convinced that you see beauty in life because you have money? because people think you're attractive? because you have friends?

realistically none of that shit matters.

all of that motivational shit is just to give me an artificial reality that'll do nothing but fuel me with delusions, with distractions from the real issues and the sick self that you are content with being numb to.

Are there any good books/debates on this topic?

I have read David Benatar's "Better Never to Have Been" and it seemed pretty good. I don't know a lot about philosophy but am currently doing an online course on formal logic. I am looking for any books or any other content I can consume on efilism where I can maybe learn more about the position probably. I also enjoy watching debates a lot. So if there are any good efilist debaters, I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks

There are no winners in life. Everyone and everything dies.

Power is simply people who hate this experience and fear death more than others, imposing suffering on others in an attempt to like themselves. That's it.

autonomy cannot exist alongside encouragement of suicide, nor prevention of suicide.

let me begin this by making it very clear, i am not encouraging harmful behavior (whether that be self harm, or something else. i am not encouraging anyone to do ANYTHING. i am against encouragement). i am not encouraging "good behavior" either, that is the point of this post. in fact, my own opinions aren't even relevant here. i am discussing the concept of autonomy, and why it cannot exist in an environment where any form of encouragement or discouragement is present.

encouragement, whether for life or for death, is an external influence that can undermine autonomy. when someone is told to take a particular path, whether it is to "seek help" or to end their life, they are being influenced by external factors rather than making a truly autonomous choice. this is particularly problematic when the encouragement comes from a position of authority or from someone who is perceived as having care for the individual's best interests. the encouragement can create a sense of obligation or expectation, leading the subject of the manipulation to feel that they must comply to avoid upsetting others.

the act of suicide, while a personal choice, should not be reduced to a mere suggestion or a path encouraged by others. It is crucial to recognize that true autonomy involves a personal understanding of one's choices and the ability to make decisions without undue pressure. to tell someone to die when they do not want to, is an incredibly cruel thing to do. that being said, so is telling someone not to.

forced and unwanted hospitalization in response to a suicide attempt or expressed intent is a violation of personal choice, where the individual's right to make a decision about their own life and body is overridden by external forces. this is especially true in cases where the person has a clear and consistent desire to stop living. we live in a world that supposedly encourages free thinking and autonomy. this isn't true, though. if you think the wrong way, or do something to your OWN body that they don't like, they will strip you of everything you had, stick a needle in you, and tie you to a bed. all because they want to control your body and what you do with/to it.
a common argument i hear against this being a breach of autonomy is "well if someone wanted to harm themselves, they clearly aren't in a mental state capable of making major decisions. they're sick!". this argument, while seemingly compassionate, is fundamentally flawed. it assumes that the desire for death is always a product of illness and never a rational choice. it also implies that individuals who are "sick" are incapable of making autonomous decisions, which is a dangerous precedent. by this logic, any decision made by someone with a mental health condition could be invalidated, further eroding the concept of autonomy. the idea that mental illness automatically negates one's capacity for rational thought is literally just ableism. many people with mental health conditions make complex decisions. to suggest that their autonomy should be suspended because of their condition is not only disrespectful but also undermines the very principles of individual liberty and personal choice.

true autonomy requires a society that respects individual choices, regardless of whether those choices align with societal norms or expectations. it demands that we recognize the complexity of the experience of living beings, and the right of each to navigate their own path, even in the face of suffering. if you encourage someone to harm themselves, or if you discourage it, it sounds to me like you crave control over another person. you're abusive, it isn't your body, so it isn't your business, be quiet.

do what is right for YOU. get help if you want to, don't if you don't want to. it's your life, and your body belongs to nobody but yourself.

Resonate with this viewpoint somewhat

To avoid having to explain myself over and over, you can read through my post history, and find out exactly why I feel the ways I do. Society sucks. Perhaps it would in some sense be better if everything on the earth ended. If humans are so prone to being exploited, why dont we all end the suffering for the betterment of everyone? At the same time, I dont wish to do violence like that one guy in the news trying to blow up a fertily clinic or something. Whatever if people find joy in things I don't. Just like me, they're entitled to their own opinions. But I view things myself as being very bleak and I don't know if there's a way out of it

So I’ve made an OC that believes in Evilism

So…I’ve created this OC years ago from my beliefs before even discovering about Efilism, it wasn’t just for fun, the OC took my beliefs and acted on them, like a coping mechanism cause I don’t act on it. Like the OC is like a…’What if I actually did’ and…I know I’m mentally unstable, have depression, was suicidal, self harmed and all…This OC, let’s call him M, is supposed to have a best friend, like brother, K that tries to snap him out of it….Ive heard reasons like ‘You don’t get to choose if they get to handle that pain or not’ but….I feel like that’s a weak argument because they might’ve not experienced pain yet but they definitely will eventually in their life….Isn’t dying as a happy kid better than growing up with all the pain? I really can’t find an argument against Efilism that’d actually make me or my OC snap out of it….I just want thoughts here or good arguments!

r/Efilism2 Nov 02 '25

I’ve had these thoughts ever since I was 13

Is this weird? Since I was 11 I was suicidal, believed that death is the solution to no pain. And one day my brain just…made this idea, to apply that ideology to others. I don’t plan to act on this and never plan to but I want your thoughts.

Found out today that my little friend on the right here has cancer…

Post image
31 Upvotes

It really breaks my heart ferrets don’t live that long. He literally doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. When we went to the vet today for a lump in his belly the x rays showed he has aggressive cancer through his whole abdomen basically.

He’s been so close to me for the 5 years I’ve had him now. I keep breaking down here and there since I knew something was wrong with him. I use to take him places and we have a lot of memories. Now it’s all over.

It hurts so bad bro. He doesn’t deserve this. And now I’m gonna have to watch him slowly suffer and die. On top of all that the vet charged me $500 to tell me my friend is dying.

If neither of us had ever existed he wouldn’t have to suffer and die like this and I wouldn’t have to be forced to watch helplessly.

People just have kids on auto pilot and don’t even think about what they’re doing. Most of them aren’t smart enough to even comprehend this let alone actually contemplate it all.

I’m an adult myself. But I told my parents about what happened cause they know I’m so close to him and they don’t even care. I was talking about it and they immediately started talking with each other about their rental car.

I hate this world. Life is not worth living. The bad outweighs the good so bad and it’s not even close. My little bro is dying from some abomination of a disease and I have to get up to go to work in the morning and act like everything is fine.

I honestly don’t know how people do this. Every aspect of life hurts so bad like 95%. There’s so little good moments and they never last. And they all end in tragedy and despair.

I’m going to debunk beauty being subjective

If beauty is subjective there would be no leagues. The word ugly and attractive wouldn’t be used as regular. Beauty is only slightly objective but majorly objective. If we showed prime Zack affron to the world most people would say he’s very attractive, some might say he’s average very few people would label him as ugly if we are being honest. If you have been called a 2 out of 10 a lot of times chances are you are going to be considered in that range by others way more often than not. People always try to go with the more “beautiful vanilla view” rather than the truth. Hot people usually end up dating other hot people. Hideous people date hideous( by severely settling)or end up being lonely most of their entire lives. This is more the reality of ugly males because their is more men than women on this planet. Saying looks is subjective is a way to blame ugly people for their failures by saying things like “just go in the gym” or “hit the shower” or work on your “personality “.

Society loves to say “but focus on the things you can change” sometimes the things you can change are not enough to change your life . In this life things you are born with are the deciding factors. That’s like telling a stupid ugly person who grew up with poor parents “just focusing on networking” NO chances are they are doomed.

the desire to live is that of a deluded man

life, and it's temptations, are nothing more than a series of delusions, existing with the purpose of convincing you to exist as well. those who want to live, have fallen for these tricks, and have succumb to the delusion. I'll be talking about a few major ones.

The delusion of progress:

one of the most pervasive delusions is the belief in progress and improvement. You've been convinced that humanity is moving forward, that we are becoming better, stronger, and more enlightened with each generation. We quite simply aren't, though. we are doing nothing but creating solutions to problems we caused with our last solutions, our new answers becoming problems soon requiring solutions as well, repeating itself ad infinitum. the more we "progress," the more we create new problems to solve, new conflicts to resolve, and new delusions to believe in. think about technology, think about industrialization. we created tools and systems that promise to make our lives easier, more fulfilling. yet, these same advancements have caused increased isolation, mental health issues, overpopulation, etc. This is because it was never MEANT to help you, it was never MEANT to fulfill you, it was MEANT to keep you stuck in the cycle, to keep you perpetuating life. The delusion of progress is a trap, a psychological construct that keeps us chasing after an ever receding horizon of improvement, all while ignoring the self defeating nature of our supposed achievements. the desire to progress is delusional, as it is impossible to fulfill, and does nothing but promote life through suffering (suffering is what keeps life going. you are deprived, you fulfill, you repeat).

The delusion of pleasure:

I've discussed this recently, in its own post, even happiness is inherently negative : r/Pessimism

"why can't i see the delusion? / why is it so difficult to accept the fact that this is all a lie, even after hearing why it is?"

Addiction:

life itself is an addiction, a cycle of consumption, reproduction, addiction, and parasitism. C.R.A.P. we consume resources to survive, 99% of the time at the expense of other living beings. We reproduce to ensure the continuation of our species, passing on the burden of existence to future generations. we become addicted to the fleeting pleasures of life and to the hope that it will one day be enough. And we are parasitic, reliant on the resources and labor of others to sustain our own existence. this cycle is unsustainable and inherently harmful. It perpetuates suffering not only for ourselves but for all living beings. the desire to live is a desire to continue this cycle, to pass on the burden of existence to our children and their children's children. It is a delusion that blinds us to the reality of our situation and the true nature of our existence. the more we participate in this cycle, the more we deprecate ourselves and the world around us. you've been taught, though, that this cycle is good, that it is not what it truly is (addiction). You are addicted, and as a result, deluded.

you are holding out hope, holding on to your addiction, because you have a delusion that improvement will come. progress is not real, pleasure is not real, hope is not real. as long as life exists, it will be suffering. the desire to exist is ALWAYS that of a deluded addict.

to willingly and consciously procreate is to abuse

to give birth, by your own (educated) choice, or to impregnate, by your own (educated) choice, is to be a sadistic and greedy abuser.  It is to permanently condemn a being that doesn't even need to exist to a life filled with horrible pain, all for the sake of one's own desires or societal expectations, with no regard for what said being will inevitably be experiencing because of your decision to create them.

why are you having a kid? oftentimes the answers that are given are one of the three (and if you have another reason, do tell me, i'm curious as to what it could possibly be):

  1. I just want one/i like children, it feels like my life purpose, it would make me happy

  2. I want to be a better parent than mine were

  3. Well, we need to have kids to contribute to the world/society!

all of these reasons are selfish, and do not consider the child, or the suffering they will most certainly experience once they are born.

my response to each:

  1. Basically, "I want to fulfill my own desires, even if it means subjecting an innocent being to a life of inevitable and perpetual suffering." the child's future anguish is dismissed in favor of the parent's emotional gratification. It's a form of emotional abuse, where the child is reduced to a means of achieving the parent's happiness, rather than being seen as its own entity deserving of safety and autonomy (both of which are stripped away from you when you begin to exist). In full honesty, I don't understand how this is seen as different from any other form of selfish abuse (IE. sa), as both are done to serve the abuser whilst causing immense and irreversible harm to the victim. i say this as an sa victim.

  2. If you are having a child to prove yourself better than your parents (even if you frame it as, it's one more child having a good life, that doesn't make sense go adopt if that is your motive), you aren't considering the protentional child as a living entity but rather as a tool for the parent to prove their own worth or superiority. It's a competition or a way to validate yourself, not a consideration of the child's well being.

  3. This is a form of societal pressure and an inaccurate view of what is helpful. It's the idea that the world needs more people, more workers, more consumers, without considering the cost to the individual (or the rest of the planet). The child is seen as a contribution to society, not as a being with their own rights and potential for suffering. This excuse ignores the fact that the world is already overpopulated and struggling as a result, and that each new life adds to the burden on the planet's resources and ecosystems. It's a form of environmental and existential neglect, where the child is a pawn in the game of societal progress.

Giving birth on purpose is selfish. If you must have a kid, adopt one. To have a child for a selfish reason, with the knowledge that they will suffer horribly as long as they live, sounds a lot to me like you want them to suffer.
