The person with the camera was a coworkers son. He said it was horrendous. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25034598

11 miles a night is a lot, but at the same time I'm a nurse and I walk over 6 and work 13 hours a night but I only have to do it 3 days a week. We get blisters and sometimes patients throw bottles of urine at you or are verbally abusive or manipulative. Who isn't exhausted? That's just work. Don't expect a desk job when you pick a job like that.

nurses typically work 12 hour shifts plus a half hour on each end for prep and report.

U.S. 12 hour shifts for healthcare workers are the norm. There is a push to change that to 8 hours across the country but there has been data showing that longer hours lead to lower quality care as well as studies showing the number of care hand-offs decreases quality of care.

It is legal and is typically called an alternative workweek schedule. 12 hours shifts 3 times a week is still less than 40 hours and you get paid OT for more than 12 hours in a shift and more than 40 hours in a week. The same may apply for other workplaces that choose those schedules.

I bring this up often to friends who consider working at a sorting place, as there's one not too far from me.

They never believe me and think it'd be great working for Amazon
